The Friends of Big Bear Valley will be setting up their own YouTube channel and chat in the coming weeks, at which time this chat will transition away from chat about that nest, given that it is not an IWS nest and we are not involved in the operation of the cam or the monitoring of the eagles. Because it is slow on all our other nests, you can still chat about the Big Bear nest here until the switchover is made. The same will hopefully be done with the other IWS Partner cams before next season.

I just now saw Simba fly from the nest tree, after having spent the night there. Here is a capture by Cecile from a few minutes ago showing Simba on one of his favorite branches:

Note the fish in between Simba"s right and left talons on the branch in this spectacular capture by Trish Rawlings this morning:

:5val: After this he flew off with the fish!

:5val: And the other half of capture showing Mrs. BB looking on!

It is being reported that Mrs. BB has a hook in her mouth, however I have not seen a video or observed her on cam recently. I did see a photo, but have seen a strand of saliva look the same depending on how the light strikes it. IWS does not have any observations, pics, vids recorded of a hook in her mouth. I believe the eagles have moved further out and not seen on cams for now. I am bringing this here, so anyone that does observe her on cam can watch for this and make their observations or report if IWS confirms in some manner.

Thank you! Sure hope it is not a hook.

Mrs. BB was briefly at the nest at 6:05 this morning and here is a screen capture by: Gracie Shepard.

Shadow was in at 6:16 to do some stick moving and here is a screen capture by Gracie Shepard:

Both visits can still be viewed on the DVR. I did not see anything to cause me concern for Mrs. BB, however the visit was way too brief to make any definitive determinations. But, she looked and acted as normal. She came in with her beak partially open as did Shadow. I am still hoping and thinking the photographer caught her beak open with a strand of saliva the other day.

:15heartbeat: Simba has not been seen for a few weeks. Shadow and Mrs.BB have not been seen from the cam view recently, but on occasion it is believed they are heard in the distance from the watchers of this cam. I have not seen any more reports on Mrs. BB's beak with a possible fishing hook caught inside of it, but she has been seen since that was first reported and there have not been any problems noted.
