:7val: Thank you for the videos, Loza.

DM2 has been such a great incubator and baby sitter while bringing in lots of fluff for the nest, but it appears that he is a first time Dad. Ever since the eaglet hatched, Mom has been bringing in the fish and doing the feeds. However, it all started to change late yesterday afternoon when Dad brought in not one, but two big prey items for the pantry. This morning, he did his first feed. Woo hoo! He is such a handsome eagle and he is so smitten with his new baby. This morning there is a big hole in the 2nd egg. So, a sibling is on the way.

Yesterday, Dad brought in a large brown rodent followed shortly thereafter, but a very large fish. Look at the expression on Mom's face when she saw the fish, which was very much alive. Priceless! DM2 was so proud of himself.

This morning DM2 did his first successful feed, giving the eaglet a few bites after Mom had served the eaglet breakfast and took a short break.

DM2 has everything under control on this drizzly morning with an egg in the process of hatching under him. Mom is keeping an eye on everything from her favorite lookout tree across the way. I love the look on his face. He could not be more proud.

936 am (Iowa time). Dad.

Oh no...she's back already.

Maybe if I just look away...

Uh oh...here she comes.
Image

I'll just ignore her....

She will not quit...

Okay...okay...I'm up.

I will be out the rest of the day. We should have a hatch soon. Happy viewing! :15heartbeat:

 :hatchegg: :hatchegg: 2nd hatch around 730 pm Iowa time. Welcome to the world D33. Woo hoo

The newest eaglet is fully out of the egg and seen just above the egg shell n these pics. The little tyke was really peeping away. Mom stayed pretty tight over the nest bowl after this and she has not given us another glimpse all evening.

DM2 brought in another big fish early this evening. 2nd one he brought in alive and flapping all over the nest. much to Mom's chagrin. He will need to learn to deliver headless fish to the nest going forward...lol.

:7val: :ohyes: D33 had 2 good bites of food once the sun came up,...1 piece of fish on two separate feeds. There is so much food in the nest right now. Despite lots of leftovers, DM2 brought in a fish this morning and did it right...it was headless. Mom must have told him to make sure the food is not thrashing about before brining it home...lol. Mom brought in another fish thereafter. D32 is stuffed, but bonking. This eaglet was fighting with the straw before its sibling arrived, so this aggression appears instinctive. Mom's years of experience shows. She is an awesome mother.

14.37 Dad departure Mom feeding chicks

Strong wind. Mom struggles with the wind wants to cover the children.

E 33 does not eat much. Beginnings of aggression?

We have a problem at the Decorah Eagles nest. At approximately 8:25 Central DST, D32 got stuck on adult talon and was dragged out of the nest bowl where he remains. Adult incubating other eaglet. At this point does not look good as there is no attempt to move him back.
CAUTION when watching.
