CAM: this may be temporary..

Facebook:

Got this information from andimal23 at RRP they have been posting updates about the camera
Hi there, the cam is currently live on a temporary channel at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sea-eagle-watch. The eagles decided to build a new nest this season, so Geoff has not yet mounted the camera until we are all sure that this is their final destination. The camera is currently on the ground looking up at the tree, but we do have sound as well. We hope to get the chat room opened in the next 2-3 weeks when the camera is finally in place. Keep watching!

UPDATE AT RRP FORUM
Dear EagleCAM Supporters,

We would like to share with you a few announcements regarding the EagleCAM team and our upcoming season. In order to provide you with the best possible information from quality and reliable sources, we review our policies from time to time to see where we can strengthen our methods of communication, our education, and our team as a whole. Over the past several weeks, we have made some changes to our internal policies and to our team. Some of these changes include saying goodbye to a few moderators from our 2011 season - Totenzwerg, darcicam and mochamama22. We wish them the best in their future endeavors, and you can see them moderating at other nest sites in the USA right now and next season!

Other changes include the addition of four new moderators to our current team for the 2012 season. Please welcome dduckies, grotto56, kellirooney and sweetsue13 to the Sydney EagleCAM moderator team! We also have the privilege of keeping a very well-respected moderator, lstaudt, as a “temporary moderator”. This means that lstaudt will return to our chat room as a regular chat participant, but is happy to provide support and assistance to our moderator team as needed. lstaudt’s contributions to our nest last season created a great desire for her to help out at several nest sites during the past few months. Rather than being tied down to one nest as a moderator, lstaudt would like the opportunity to share her passion and knowledge as a chatter throughout multiple nest sites and chat rooms this year.

Behind the scenes, we've been preparing for the 2012 White-bellied Sea EagleCAM season. You may notice that the parent eagles have chosen to build a new nest in a different tree for this season! Our camera has been at ground-level for the past few weeks so that we can be sure this is their permanent choice for the year. We are pretty sure at this point they are taking up permanent residence here, so our new PTZ camera and microphones will be installed by an arborist around June 15th. We plan go live at our normal channel located at http://www.ustream.tv/seaeagles as soon as everything is installed.

Our chat room will open for the season on Saturday, June 23rd at 7 AM AEST (nest time in Sydney, Australia, which is Friday, June 22nd at 5 PM EDT for those of you in North America). If all goes well with the camera installation, we may open the chat room a few days earlier. We will update our Facebook pages and the forums with information as it becomes available. We are also excited to have a few special guests coming to our chat room during the next few months. Details coming soon!

We look forward to an exciting new season with you and the EagleCAM team. For now, please join us at our temporary camera site at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sea-eagle-watch. Be sure to leave a message on the EagleCAM Facebook page to tell us what you think!

We also invite you to visit the BirdLife Australia website located at http://www.birdlife.org.au/ and the Birds in Backyards site located at http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/ to familiarize yourself with some of the exciting birds and sounds we've already been experiencing this season.

Thank you for your continued support, we are excited to begin the new season with you!

Eggciting news today. Looks like we have our first egg! Late afternoon on Thursday 12th July, our beautiful mum settled down in the nest bowl and there she has remained. In line with observations from previous seasons, they didn't spend any "lead-up" nights on the nest bowl prior. They are exactly 8 days later than last year, when egg laying was between 5 and 6pm.

They are just doing the rescue right now SGB the cam is down and they got permission to take a cherry picker up they may band them if the chicks are OK
it says that a zoo has donated the bands for S3 & S4 OK just read that the ALIENS (cherry picker crew) will be there in about 45 minutes to an hour to
Its live now and they are there :sum10: :sum10: :sum10: :sum10:

They are up in the nest freeing the chicks from the fishing line and banding is going on as I type from what the mods that are in touch with the crew says
I guess from what is said one had freed its self already and the other had it wrapped around its wing but is free and they are being perfect angels for the crew
Well one chick is going down in the cherry picker some sort of damage to the leg there is a rehabber & vet on site
Be back with more in a few minutes

Ok so it seems they took the freed one out first with leg injury not much damage :sum10: they are back up to get other one but without the first on their way down with the chick now geoff is talking to the chick snippers to free it & then clean up of the nest
Parents taking it all in pretty well, OH poo the first chick to vet with hook in its gullet (gullet meaning crop area outside)
