:sum10: GREAT NEWS HERE :sum10:

Sydney Sea Eagle FB posted by one of the mods that S2 was flying over the whole thing yes thats right big bro/sis was there watching out for the big bad men that were taking care of the chicks LOL. Now on more serious note, S3 was the first rescued and is the chick at the vet. There was a hook removed from back of the throat, stitches and antibiotics. S4 is the one put back in the nest, and was banded. Both chicks had blood taken and male/female will be determined hopefully sometime tomorrow. S3 will go back to the nest tomorrow morning around 8:30 AM Sydney time (5:30 PM EST). YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All is good in the SeaEagleWorld

OMGosh...thanks Kitten and MA for the reports...
I had a hard time watching this cam (so far away) and didn't get a chance
to check in very often. Glad the babies are A-ok :sum10:

Great rescue by all involved :dancinggirls:

Video of the rescue and info posted with the vid:

HD Camera Video - S3 and S4 became caught in a fishing line at some stage on Saturday the 13th of October. By Sunday, a fishing hook had become embedded in S3's gullet and both eaglets were stuck together. The carbon fibre line was wrapped around both eaglets legs and wings many times over.

Video is removal of eaglets from nest yesterday, S4's return to nest (same afternoon) and S3's return today (S3 spent night at vet and had surgery to remove the hook).

courtesy of EagleCAM@BirdLife Australia Discovery Centre, Sydney Olympic Park
Rescue Team - Huge thanks to General Forest Tree Surgeon (cherry picker) Rob from NP&W, Jen from SOPA ecology section, Jon, Geoff, Judy, Adrian & Graham (BL) & Dr Stacey Gelis, from The Animal Referral Hospital
**Last but not least, special thanks for the continued support of all of our viewers, chatters and moderators.

Apparently, the fishing line was wrapped around S3 10-12 times and was very tight

I really didn't follow this nest this year, but very sad that neither egg hatched. I believe they were removed today for testing...

Vid of mom and dad before eggs were removed...so sad.. :girlsad3:

HD Video - congrats to mum and dad Sea-Eagle. Mum laid first egg at 5:28pm earlier this evening, Friday 4th July.
Video shows her sitting and trying out the nest before settling down to lay her first egg. Listen carefully when dad comes to visit, you can hear her softly squeeing.
