:girlsad3: Still nothing to report from Columbus. The blog update from 6/5 is only about Lima and it's 1 chick who is doing well. The other 3 eggs didn't hatch, although they have had some cam troubles and didn't see everything. I know what to do ... let's call their local TV station and suggest they do a piece ... Has Columbus spotted the city's beloved Durand and Aries since Rhodes construction?

:imbored: Thanks Swinwk. I have been wondering the same thing. I miss this site and our beloved pair. I would think that Durand and Aries, if both are still healthy and together, would have had babies by now. I'm disappointed in the lack of interest by those in the area...our eyes and ears until this renovation is over...a 3 yr project. Work was not to begin until spring 2018. It is a major undertaking. I understand there are also plans to renovate the Riffe Tower. So, the nest box on the Riffe will probably be removed in the future. If the falcons found other nesting options, I would be surprised if DOW puts the nest box back on the Rhodes when the renovation is over. So much time will have gone by...at that point, DOW may view it as an unnecessary expense.

I have really missed this site and our pair.

I am still hoping to go to columbus on one of my daughters trips and then maybe scout around.

I do not think they realize how many really watched this site. unfortunately as more of our biologists retire , we will find this more and more

but I think of all our falcons here often. scout, orville, clementine, Durand, ,Spark, etc. :15heartbeat: :15heartbeat: :15heartbeat:

Hi all, sorry for disappearing... I’ve spotted the falcons once or twice in the last months but didn’t have a clear view. But today I got a very clear view from my office window of an adult soaring. I got a video that I hope to upload tonight. Definitely adult plumage and seemed pretty big for a peregrine - big enough that I thought it was a hawk at first. But I could tell it was for sure a peregrine when it got closer. So maybe a female, and maybe Durand.

Not sure how far along we are with construction. Supposedly they are going to start fixing the granite facade soon and repairing broken panels, but I’d think they’d want to do that soon before winter comes...

:leafthumbs: Thank you Collin. That's great news! Durand and Aries are both large pefa's. So, hoping what you saw was one of them.

Just watching the video and imagining that it's Durand. :loveheart: I really miss her and I hate not knowing how she is doing or even if they had chicks this year and if they all fledged successfully. She is such a sweet little falcon that we have been lucky enough to watch her whole life on cam. I pray that we will again someday.
Miss Donna too.

Thank you ccollin13. Hope you are doing well.

thank you ccollin13 :15heartbeat:

I also have been imagining what Durand is doing. hop e that building is done soon. we saw in Pittsburg , how the construction over the years affected the nesting of the falcons

there was a big void last year.

Really wondering how the family is doing! If I recall correctly, the construction to the Rhodes Tower should be completed this year. Hopefully we will hear some updates.

I was in Columbus a few weeks ago and didn't notice any visible construction on the southern face the of the tower. Unfortunately I didn't see any falcons either. Here's hoping that there will be some updates soon.

Great news!

Durand has been spotted nesting jut a few blocks from the old nestbox location! ODNR will provide periodic updates! Though I would prefer an option for live streaming, I'll take photos and updates any day of the week. From the looks of it, Durand appears to be incubating, so hopefully we will see some eyasses this year!
