What a joy to be able to see her, gosh it's been some time now. I'm gonna have to get myself up to Columbus one of these days and see Durand. Thank you so much Anowlwithknees for the pictures and videos.

I've seen the falcons on and off for the last year circling the Rhodes tower, but never knew if they nested. Now that I know where to look... early Sunday morning, June 2, I was by the building where they're now nesting. I saw an adult falcon carrying prey up to the top of the building, and the falcon landed on the top and disappeared. Leads me to believe they are feeding nestlings now!

:7val: Thanks for the update ccollin13 and you were absolutely right!! I checked to see if there were any other updates and Durand and I hope Aries have 4 chicks!! :7val:

:5val: Thanks, Karen Norris!!

Edit: When you enlarge the photos you can see it is B/R on the left leg and no band on the right, therefore I do believe this is Aries!! :flirty:

Wonderful news and pictures!
I tweaked one of the pictures of the male's leg and there is definitely a Z in the red part of the band, so I think it's safe to say that it is indeed Aries.

Fantastic news! So glad to see another successful hatch this year!! I hope with the location of the nest as evident as it is and with a successful hatch that we can see more updates this summer.

Thanks so much for all of the pictures, comments, observations, etc. I hope that one day they will be able to return to their nest and we can watch them again.

this is so great to see our falcons. am hoping we can get a cam on them for next year.

nesting low is not a bad thing if there are low buildings around them . they can go to those buildings and once they are stronger, they just circle and get higher and higher and go to next high building.

I do not know if pciutres of area was posted. but seeing the photos and reports made my day

The building they are nesting on is a few blocks southeast of the Rhodes tower where the previous nestbox was. It is a fairly low building, but most of the buildings around it are also fairly low as well. Its not a big hurdle for fledglings to make it to the tops of the surrounding structures.

My only concern is that there may not be as many folks on the lookout for mis-fledges and grounded juvies around this area. At least with Rhodes tower, they would fledge in the direction of the capitol building where people would be on the lookout.

This is the building that I suspect they are on:

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9606802 ... 312!8i6656

More specifically, I believe they are on the northwest corner of the structure--it it the only place from the pictures that features 1) a rounded exterior near the window that 2) has a view of the ornamental molding on the YWCA building. Here's a summary of where I think they are, and a circle around the YWCA molding visible from Ms. Norris' post.

A little update on the Rhodes Tower renovation. It is not expected to be completed until 2020...probably late 2020, as they will be replacing the windows in the fall of 2020. So, Durand and Aries will need to manage another nesting season in 2020 without the Rhodes Tower. Not sure if there are any plans to put the nest box back once the renovation is complete. Very glad our favorite pair found a place to have a family.

Click here for the June 2019 Rhodes Tower update.

:egg19: Thanks for the update, Nadia! Not what I was wishing for, but I hope Durand and Aries can stay put one more year so we know where they are. Did you notice drones will be flying twice a month on weekends? Hopefully Durand and Aries won’t notice.....
