still 3 eggs and I believe it is hope sitting on perch

terzo has been ot eggs and was jsut on perch and started kaking and you can hear him somewhere up top now kaking

and i just heard a canoodle LOL

There was a canoodle at 10:00 (Eastern Time) as well. They must have been on the building ledge right in front of the nest box. You could hear them and partially see their shadows.

Hope really, really wants that 4th egg!

yes, it seems like they want a 4th egg but I am happy with 3( they never listen)

TERzo has been incubating, and they are pretty solid on the eggs

canoodle a few moments ago and HOpe back to incubate

My goodness, that's like what? 3 today? And here's how Hope communicates that she wants some -- two or three soft wails followed by a bark.

Bev, do you think they've started incubating? Yesterday they both spent quite a bit of time with the eggs uncovered. Today, even Terzo is staying on the eggs when it's his turn.

they usually start incubating full from 2nd last egg laid to last egg laid. That is why we watch so carefully from the ground when no cam. We know when at least 2nd last egg is as they incubate fully. We have to sit for hours to make sure, one comes in and one leaves within minutes.

So the catch when you have no cam is just calculating the best you can . You know you can start counting days from 2nd last egg laid. so it works pretty good. We are always within days. sometimes right on the head.The only thing we do nto know is how many eggs.

so we will see if she lays another.

March 21st, Steve Gosser was lucky to be near the Tarentum Bridge when a pair of peregrines showed up. He was even luckier to photograph them mating. This closeup shows that the male is banded, the female is not. No, we don’t know who the male is. The photo is too distant to read his bands even when Steve blows it up.

But I have an idea about the female. In the closeup you can see she has lots of stripes and speckles on her breast that are similar to the unbanded female intruder who’s been visiting the Cathedral of Learning for the past year. Here are two views of that female from her March 16th visit. Could the Tarentum female be the same bird that visits Pitt?

It is the cam that distorts the eggs. I stayed up as long as I could so while I was sleeping LOl

I dont think they mate unless she wants another egg

2 other nests have 5 eggs this year
previous years 5 eggers, one has NOT made it to fledge
The males have a hard enuf time covering 3 eggs !

someone is above box can see shadow. Must be TErzo as HOPe s not bothered . head does look slim, but shadows distort just out of view on refresh cam

and my observation last night was purely on HOpes' antsiness.
