Oh dear heavens. I usually read EVERYTHING that has been posted, but somehow missed reading about the intruder. Thinking back to that falcon on the point a bit ago, it struck me that it didn't look like Little Dad, but I
brushed it off. But Little Dad is on the eggs now. Don't know if Niecey is off having dinner or not. It's gonna get dark early tonight.

I am really mixed up. I thought it was Little Dad on the eggs. If so, he's still there and Niecey hasn't returned for the night shift.

Thanks, Jane! The falcon I saw on the point and wrote about in my post @ 5:57 did look a little longer/sleeker than Lil Dad. But, because Niecey did not react and was calmly looking @ this falcon and she had tracked it till it landed on the point (I did switch cams to see how she was reacting after it landed) and this falcon was quite obviously on high alert with it's mannerisms, even stretching it's body (almost as if standing on tip toes) and craning his neck to look upwards, around and even over the edge below, I assumed it was Lil Dad looking for the intruder, before he flew. I could be wrong and it could have been the intruder searching frantically for Lil Dad's position, before he flew. Again, I go back to Niecey's reaction and that's what swayed me. Everything was very quick though.

Jane, I am seeing your post you just wrote and have not looked @ cams, but Lil Dad normally leaves between 7:30 and 7:35 EDT for the evening.

been out all afternoon. very confused, so was little dad seen again. ???

I may be wrong, but I think this is Niecey on cam 1 with her tail in the up position some, because it is caught on the back wall possibly. When I view from the nest cam in certain positions such as this one, the size difference is not always as apparent for some reason and I can't always tell them apart. But, I will keep a watch @ intervals this eve to make sure.

Bev, I was not here for a long period, as I had to leave to take a phone call and then conduct business. I am moving to a new town in the near future and had to take the call, otherwise I would not have left. So I missed anything after what I last wrote on previous page. Through out the event, it never occurred to me that Lil Dad was not in control and I hope I was not wrong about that. The softer cries I talked about, I felt were Lil Dad's and @ the time thought it was him on the point as I have described previous.

I'm still confused about WHO is on the eggs right now. Your reports are certainly appreciated, SWINWK. i was out most of the afternoon, thus not watching for a good bit of the time. And my hearing is really lousy, so I'm no help with that at all. It got dark early tonight due to the gloomy weather. Not expecting to see a shift change for many hours now.

Niecey continues to sleep in the nest as I leave. Will watch for Lil Dad's arrival in the morning. :15heartbeat:

Lot of talking going on. Niecey got off the eggs and is now sitting om the pole. I think. Still to dark for my eyes.

Lil Dad arrived crying out to the stick @ 6:20 EDT!! Niecey did not get up. He flew off the stick 3 minutes later and she popped that head up. Eventually, he arrived on the point. The winds are blowing his feathers up. He is facing and looking out over the train tracks. She remains lying on the eggs. He flew @ about 6:34. And back @ 6:36 to the ledge near the stick and Niecey went out to meet him. It was right @ the point between cams 1 and 3, where all I could see was a part of Niecey on cam 1 and I wondered if he had brought her something to eat by her eagerness and that is why he had been scanning and looking toward the tracks earlier (scanning for prey). He went to the stick 1st and eventually to the nest and is lying on the eggs as I leave @ 6:47! :15heartbeat:

After seeing Lil Dad on the point this morning, the one on the point yesterday was an intruder. Lil Dad isn't that sleek. Hope he doesn't show up today.

I didn't get far as I heard crying and it is Niecey who has arrived back @ the point. I went to the nest and back to the point and I could see neither. Then Niecey pops up on the stick and there is calling and Lil Dad flies in and around her as if to mate but aborts the attempt and flies. Eventually, he returns to the point and they are calling. She went back to the nest and is lying on the eggs. Meanwhile, Lil Dad is nearly blown off the point by the wind. Wonder if this is what caused him to abort his mating attempt earlier. They remain in these positions as I leave @ 7:00 EDT.

Edit to add: He flew @ 7:02. Will leave tab up for sound for awhile. Will be gone for a big chunk of the day later.

He has returned to the point with a gift for Niecey!! And she is near the point with it now and I no longer see Lil Dad. She has left it in that spot and moved directly on the point. The prey looks grayish with a rusty breast in this lighting, I currently have. They sure are busy this morning, I can't seem to get away. :10val:

I had some troubles with the cams, but coming back and after seeing all 4 cams, I find nobody, but the eggs and the prey still lying near the point for now.

Niecey on the stick and we have the 1st mating of the day!! Lil Dad returned to the near- point and is de-feathering the prey. She remains on the point. Guess that's why she didn't take the prey earlier, Lil Dad had not prepped it for her! :10val:

At 7:33, she is back lying on the eggs, while he continues to prep. At 7:36, Lil Dad is gone with the prey and Niecey has popped up in the doorway looking to see what is going on! And @ 7:38, she is lying on the eggs with her back to us and I still don't see Lil Dad or the prey ... Oh, oh! :10val:
