When I came in @ 5:40 EDT, Lil Dad was already on the eggs and I could not find Niecey on any of the cams. Finally @ 6:32, I noticed she had shown up on the point. She has been preening and looking around while Lil Dad has been snoozing off and on while lying on the eggs. At 8:38 after calls from Niecey, Pa leaves the nest and flies out and loops around to mate with her on the point. She then flies to the nest and is lying on the eggs and Lil Dad returns to the point about a minute later.

Lil Dad was on the point de-feathering and Niecey was keeping a close eye on him from the nest. At 10:23 she flew down and claimed her gift and flew! Lil Dad flew to the stick and cleaned his beak on it. Niecey has not returned and he is now lying on the eggs as I leave.

See all is calm on the home front. Every time I check in nothing is going on, which is good.

At 5:35 EDT, I found Lil Dad alone on his eggs. Niecey is not on any of the cams. She flies in silently to the stick @ 5:37 and begins to preen. At 5:47 I have the tab up and could hear them, came in just in time to see Niecey walk into the nest and settle on her eggs. Lil Dad is on the point preening. When I checked back in, Lil Dad was already gone @ 6:05. At 6:13 hearing them, I came in and found Niecey leaving the nest and on cam 3, she walked to the edge of the ledge and flew downward. Found Lil Dad on the point with prey and caught Niecey looping out and back in to the point with Lil Dad. She grabbed her gift by the wing and flew. On cam 1, I saw her flying toward the U and it looked as if she flew under the roof area above the railing and out of sight. In the meantime, Lil dad flew to the stick. At 6:20 he is getting on the eggs.

Little Dad just came in with what looked like some sort of shorebird. It was fairly large. Niecey got off the eggs and flew out. From the point view cam I could see her coming in to get her meal. She snatched it up quickly and flew off with it. Little Dad is there now. He is awesome!

:15heartbeat: He is awesome, Jane!! At 6:30, I see Niecey on the point while Lil Dad remains on the eggs. Nest exchange @7:05 with Lil Dad going to the point and preening.

He left the point about a minute ago. If I could round up some other people, I'd find out where the night roost is located. I used to know, but it's not the same as it used to be.

:15heartbeat: Interestingly, I noticed Lil Dad (while facing us from the point) kept staring toward his right and his head was bobbing @ intervals. I knew he was going to fly in that direction as something had obviously caught his interest. Sure enough @ 7:40, he flew off the ledge to his right and flew past the end of the ledge. I decided to wait to see if he would fly back past the point on his way to wherever he sleeps. Much to my surprise he came back to the point (from the direction he had flown) and landed a little over a minute after having left. He stayed until flying @ 7:44 toward his left after having faced us in his usual fashion.

At 5:21 EDT, I've beat Lil Dad here this morning and Niecey is lying on the eggs! At 5:43, while watching the stick cam, Lil Dad abruptly shows up in front of the door and climbs over the stick and into the nest and Niecey rises and leaves. Within the minute she is on the point and he is lying on the eggs. At 6:49 after hearing calls, I went in and found Niecey has left. She had remained on the point for the majority of this time passed, but had moved to the stick just prior to leaving. Lil dad continues on the eggs. Niecey returns to the point @ 7:34 and calls while Lil Dad makes tiny cheep noises from the nest. Both leave @ 7:38 with Lil Dad eventually arriving on the point and calling and looking below quite often. Lil Dad dove downward off the ledge @ 7:46 and Niecey returned to the nest and is lying on the eggs. Lil Dad returns to the ledge @ 6:51 and is preening. Lil Dad flew @ 8:03 and Niecey popped her head up and looking around in reaction, then settles. Niecey leaves @ 8:24 with Lil Dads return to the point. I believe he has been eating as he is wiping his beak on the ledge. Wonder if he brought her a gift and I missed it? Directly, he walks over to the building across the end of the ledge and wipes his beak on the building! :teehee: At 8:31 he has returned to the eggs.

I noticed that Little Dad flew in the opposite direction from usual last night, but didn't see him return. He's on the eggs now, as I'm pretty sure he brought Niecey some breakfast. I have quite a bit of falcon information here and have been looking over it in the past few days. Little Dad was banded on May 19, 2003, so at this point 16 years ago he was either an egg or soon to be one. He was one of four banded that day. Another male and two females.

:spring1: Good morning, Jane! Thanks for the info ... where's he from? Oops, she's gone. I looked it up and he came from the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia. As I leave @ 9:02, Lil Dad remains on the eggs and Niecey has not returned, within view of the cams @ least.

Lil Dad is lying on the eggs @ 1234 and Niecey is not home. She arrives to the point @ 1:18. Lil Dad left the nest @ 1:34 and flew. Niecey is no longer on the point. For a few seconds, I could not see anyone and then noticed one flying toward the U, but veering toward the left and flew between the buildings and out of view. Eventually, Lil Dad appears on the point and is preening and making soft calls. At 1:53 he walks across the ledge and stands next to the building. He flew from this spot @ 1:59 toward the tracks. Nobody on cams.

Little Dad is standing up against the building at the end of the ledge right now. Nobody on the eggs. It's in the 60s here, so fairly warm. I am going to out for several hours now.

Lil Dad on ledge now and can be seen on cam 3. Then he moved to the nest and is lying on the eggs. Niecey returns to the point @ 1:09.

Okay Jane, I'll be here for awhile and off and on all day. Niecey moved to the middle of the ledge from the point, I guess the sun is hot on the point right now and that's why they are moving closer to the building when down here this afternoon. I kept this tab up and checked frequently with Niecey remaining @ the end of the ledge. At about 3:32 after hearing sustained crying, I checked expecting to see the nest exchange completed. But, there was not an exchange and Niecey has flown and Lil Dad remains on the point. Niecey seems to be taking some time for herself this afternoon. At 3:40 after hearing the fussy sort of crying, I came in and saw Lil Dad leaving. He went off the ledge toward the U veering toward the buildings on the left, but turned right before reaching the U and out of sight. I didn't see anybody for a minute, but then Niecey goes in the nest and is lying on the eggs now. Lil Dad to the point @ 4:23 with vocals. The wind seems to have picked up here! At 5:21, Lil Dad flew off the point and in time you could see him soaring higher in the sky beyond the U toward the left. Then he returned to the nest and took over from Niecey who flew. Niecey returned @ 5:29 to the point. They remain in these positions as I leave @ 6:11.

I've been back for a little while. Was actually checking on a reported pair of Peregrines in a neighboring county. Came up empty on that venture. it's unseasonably warm here, in the mid 70s. In the past Niecey seems to mind the heat, while Little Dad is as cool as a cucumber. He's there now.

Thanks for your pic and vid, Terka! Jane, is what Terka caught in her vid, what you saw Niecey doing Thursday? I have never seen her do that before. Niecey is lying on the eggs and Lil Dad left for the night @ 7:34.
