Where are they now?: Gunner
When our peregrine falcons fly the nest each spring, we never know if we’ll see them again. Peregrine means “wanderer,” and as you’d expect from the name, some fledglings fly hundreds of miles away.

So when we do get an update on one of our power plant peregrines, it’s pretty exciting.

Take, for example, Gunner. Gunner was born in 2018 at the Oak Creek Power Plant.

.
This fall, he was photographed in Montrose Harbor in Chicago. Spotters were able to identify him using the letter and number on the band on his foot. (This is why we attach the bands to our chicks each spring.)

Currently one falcon is hanging out at the Oak Creek nest box. In his report, Greg Septon says the resident female, Eurus was found dead in February of 2020. Another female has appeared and she and the resident male, Michael are forming a pair bond. Her name is Essity, b/blu 48Y
PS, thanks for posting Greg Septon’s report, Kittenface !

According to the cam catch that you see before activating the cam, Port Washington has 4 eggs now, and Oak Creek has one egg according to breaking news...

Port Washington...
5 eggs
I am worried about these eggs, not in a scrape ~ just cement and
moving around a lot.
:nervous:

If you look at SGB’s catch on March 25 there was plenty of gravel there. Is there a hole in the floor? PORT W

That doesn't look good. Without a scrape (enough gravel or stones to build one) they may never develop properly. I remember years ago, there was a nest with the same problem and we were all upset about it, maybe maine somewhere? Anyway, they came in and quickly corrected the situation. I was so pleased as it was beyond my expectations.
