As best as I can tell, this is Andy coming in..those who watch more can confirm.

Facts:

1 adult male, 1 adult female, 1 egg remaining

Rumor:

Andy is missing, mom destroyed and ate the eggs because Andy was missing

Yes, that looks like him. There was a nest exchange around 4:40 this afternoon, Annie out and Miracle in. Not sure why some people on chat boards say things that they do. :egg16:

I was unable to get the Fargo cam before I posted.
The Audubon blog said nothing.
The only thing I could do is read what people on that chat posted.
As soon as the cam came back and I saw video live -
I posted the correction / update

I value accuracy, and strive for it

In my defense - AFTER I posted, people came and posted the corrections.

I didn't mean you Shepherd. I have seen some of the things people have said on there. I like to see for myself for the most part.

Oh sadness
May 13, 2016 Flyday shepnotes
10 am Andy comes chirping to Miracle. She doesnt move.
At 5.45 pm I viewed the video. Miracle opened the egg, began to eat, pulled out dead chick
She carried egg away. I remember when GSB Michele did that
O sadness. poor bird.

chat post by Candace Gums ?
I'm thinking that the parents know when an egg is not viable and is overdue in hatching. This is their instinct.

NONE of her 4 eggs hatched this year
Its important to document sadness for research.
If the falcon species DNA is breaking down, they need to know it.
I am not qualified to say thats whats happening.

Miracle only fledged one chick last year

It was the male that disposed of the egg, I checked the DVR. So sad but that is nature and they must know when things aren't right with the eggs. Your pic above shows it was Annie/Andy...only one band on the right leg.

Miracle is 12 years old, hatched in 2004. I found one of kittenface's posts in 2010 to confirm her age. That may be why the eggs were not viable. Who really knows for sure! Anyway it is still sad. :egg15:

I believe the cam has been shut down for the season. The link on Audobon Dakota says it has been deleted, also the Livestream link is not working.

Yesterday even after the last egg was removed by Annie, Miracle was still laying in the nest box. :egg15:

I believe birds do mourn - normal birds
As of May 15 Audubon still has not blogged nest fail
Today is Sonday so hopefull Monday or Tuesday they will catch up to us
http://www.fargofalcons.com/latest-news-blog

Some in chat wonder if they will re-clutch
I doubt it

As I type I am enjoying Wilmington chicks scampering about with their new bling.
There ARE successes! Hope goes on!

This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. I have been watching the live stream everyday for as long as it will allow me, as there are still issues with the web cam. I have witnessed Miracle and Andy still occupying the nest box. For the last couple of weeks, Miracle had been sitting in the scrape continually, except for feeding. Now, she is mostly gone from the nest. However, both return every so often, more so Andy. I was hoping they would start another clutch, but so far, Miracle has not laid any new eggs. They are probably just hanging around until it's time to migrate.

Sorry for getting this posted so late. I actually forgot I could post here! Carolyn, I have been checking the web cam every day for the last few weeks, and it has not been up at all. I emailed Audubon for an update but have yet to hear from them. I will post their response if I get one. I've been watching Steve and Rachel, the ospreys in I believe Maine. Their third and last chick finally hatched. They are fun to watch - a little different than peregrines. They don't make much sound, and I noticed that the male spends more time in or near the nest along with the female. Thanks for the nice welcome, Gigi!
