This little guy was telling mom he was hungry, jumping up at her and grabbing at her. She finally left and came back with food, it looked like a Tree Swallow. He had a full crop when done. :15heartbeat:

WOW!!!!!
(In my opinion) that guy is about as lucky as it gets. And the way he just kind of tossed the chick back it, maybe someone with a bit more experience should have been doing it. Like I said just my opinion.

Nothing so far. Pat was the one that always got back to me about Iowa, but he retired.

Found this so far.

Baby peregrine falcon atop Iowa courthouse gets leg bands
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A peregrine falcon chick has received identification bands as part of a raptor monitoring program in eastern Iowa.
David Kester, a field researcher with the nonprofit Raptor Resource Project, climbed atop the Dubuque County Courthouse to attach the metal bands, which allow researchers to track raptors’ survival rates, migration distance and population growth, The Telegraph Herald (http://bit.ly/2rrsjt2 ) reported.
The female chick, which hatched May 31, looked to be in perfect health, Kester said. It was the first successful hatching for the falcon pair that live on the courthouse’s sixth-floor ledge.
The birds are one of only 19 known nesting pairs in the state, said Pat Schlarbaum, a retired wildlife diversity program technician with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
The Iowa Peregrine Falcon Recovery Program reintroduced 40 falcons to the Dubuque area in 1999 and 2000. The goal was to get the birds to return to their natural habitat at the cliffs surrounding the Mississippi River, according to Lowell Washburn, a retired Iowa Department of Natural Resources employee who helped oversee the program.
“They are an extremely rare nester in Iowa,” he said.

UND Tower Grand Forks

Banding Photos

Raptor expert Tim Driscoll and his crew were busy at work Monday, banding new peregrine chicks born on the University of North Dakota water tower, and Grand Forks photographer Russ Hons was there. The chicks, named Chan, Julie and Carl, were carefully placed in a small dog kennel and lowered to the ground for the banding. The parents, Marv and Terminator, were not happy, and let the crowd of 100-plus onlookers know. They circled the tower and the climbers and constantly voiced their displeasure. The banders weighed and measured the chicks and placed a small metal band on their legs for future identification. The crowd was able to get a closeup look at the chicks before they were returned to the nest at the top of the tower. According to Russ, the falcons “fly unbelievably fast and were not easy to get photos of while in flight.” (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)

:loveheart: Thankyou for posting the article about the banding here, Carolyn! Was Marv hatched in Fargo? I enjoyed watching the babies up there the year he was hatched. Marv was quite an energetic little guy. Looks like now he is a devoted daddy....

I am looking at the cam for Bremer Tower Bank in Minneapolis/ St Paul. The URL has been changed, and also guess what- as I was looking at the empty nest box, in flew a peregrine! I don't think there is any info recorded about this he resident falcons here, but this falcon is banded...I tried to take some screen shots on my iPad. But haven't looked yet...The falcon is still here on the ledge.
EDIT As you probably know, I do not know how to post a picture. If anyone is interested in the screen shots I got, PM me and I could email them to you...
