How much longer would you expect Diamond to care for the juveniles? Thank you

in my experience at our sites, some juveniles hang around right till migration and will still get fed , if necessary. Some are just more independent , and go on their way quite early.

I think this is why you still see the adults taking off with food. a juvenile or two is still around
Ours migrate, but we have had them still look to adults for food right up till migration, which can be 8 to 9 weeks after they fledge.
this last season, we had one juvenile male injure his foot , and he stuck around and was able to get prey, from the adults , right till end of sept. They migrate around then. I kept watch from the ground quite closely , and he healed and got more and more able to do for himself. ( the adults of course , did not beak feed, but left food for him. )

As with everything else, every site is different, but our biologist says, they will leave food , till they need no more. We see this at demortel. some of the juveniles hang around quite long and they know where the food is.

thank yo u Arjen for bringing material over. :6snowflake:

Great to see juvenile, wish it was able to get into box.

adults tend to avoid direct contact with juveniles right now as the young males are bigger than than adult male right now, and can cause some harm, but adutls will leave food around for them . Just going by what I see form ground at my sites.

Great job here

Thank you so much, Bev, for the terrific information. I've followed other raptors for years but am new to Peregrines. They are fascinating and certainly are dedicated parents. :6snowflake:
