Hello All,

It's a very sad morning in Melbourne today. Unfortunately, we have lost one of the chicks this morning. I know it's very hard for some viewers to watch and come to terms with.

We have turned the camera around while we wait for the parents to remove the carcass. Once the parents have removed the carcass we will resume normal operation of the camera.

For the safety of the chicks and us, we will not attempt to remove the carcass. Last season we attempted to remove one of the carcasses and one of the surviving chicks was frightened and flew off the ledge. Luckily the chick returned back to the nest safely. For this reason, we will not attempt to remove the carcass.

I know a few members have messaged us for the surviving chicks to be removed and cared for. Unfortunately, we will not Intervene and we have to let nature take its course.

Thank you for your understanding and we hope the surviving chicks make it through.

Thanks for updating us with pics and comments. I was on vacation, and although I knew a chick had died, I didn't get the whole story until today. I planned on telling you all that I would be vacationing, but the night before my vacation was to start, I was sick. :girlsad3:
