AUSTRALIA - 50 Fairy Martins killed in vicious attack in Queensland ... 83 nests were destroyed ... WILDLIFE carer Christine Wynne was disgusted to learn more than 50 fairy martin birds were killed during a vicious attack on their nests in Bargara. Ms Wynne is now looking after just four survivors after 83 nests were destroyed. “I hope whoever did this is prosecuted and fined to the maximum,” she said. RSPCA inspector Amanda Yates said the nests were found at the back of a private home yesterday morning. “The man who lived there was quite upset someone had done this,” she said. Ms Yates said she found the nests and the bodies of the dead birds in the rubbish bin – including two still alive. “If you have birds you want removed, you must do it humanely,” she said. Christine Wynne is caring for four fairy martins that survived an attack on more than 80 nests. |

Unimaginable cruelty. Well, I guess not. I'm ashamed. Having said that I give many thanks to the person who rescued and is caring for the few who survived the holocaust. |

Wow - what a great birdwatching group to have put together all those pictures Thanks for finding that KF. Yes I see brown falcons around where I live (which is a few hundred kilometres south of Canberra but in virtually the same terrain) - they are bigger than the peregrine & look quite formidable. There are also "Little Eagles" around us too - they look just like a Wedge-tail Eagle only a lot smaller - really neat to see. |
