BAD NEWS from NABU-Ernst Klöcker:

Since today there is no web cam stream of Peregrine falcons Bella & Amadeus' nestbox and platform anymore.
:gaaaaah: :gaaaaah:

Bella's 7-year-old female peregrine, looked again today at their breeding site over! This is perhaps the last peregrine image that can be shown here of the Bocholt webcam !!! Bocholt pigeon fanciers have prevailed on 22.10.2014 in an interview at the BEW, the owner of the water tower, which houses the peregrine falcon nesting box: The peregrine Webcams at the water tower are disconnected from the BEW (Stadtwerke) because, according to the pigeon fanciers "the images of the killing of pigeons unbearable "were. (I have never seen in all the years that pigeons were killed by the peregrine before these two peregrine Webcams!)

By turning off the cams naturally falls away and the monitoring of operations on / in the nest box rare, severely endangered peregrine falcons! Without continuous monitoring unpopular raptors are much easier to remove from interested parties!

Many thousands of internet visitors per year will probably miss this interesting peregrine webcam in future very much! Was the guard at the box entrance, after 6 Uhu visits in the spring of 2013 (my camera trap supplied here the Uhu first record for Bocholt) placed before breeding begins the peregrine from me and the nest box made Uhu-safe, will now be removed:

How to the eagle owl, here the only natural enemy of the peregrine falcon, a welcome ally of pigeon fanciers are! As I was told, the pigeon fanciers should have threatened to terminate their contracts with the BEW (electricity and gas supply)! A required and allegedly already promised closure of peregrine nesting box in the water tower BEW has the lower landscape authority of Borken (after my intervention) just can not stop.

As I announced on 15 December 2014 has now been produced and assembled by me the owl-defense grid removed (after 6 Uhu visits) from the entrance of peregrine box! I heard that this was the "compromise outcome" of a induced by pigeon breeders round table meeting at the BEW in January 2015. I can not believe that the lower landscape authority (district of Borken) and NABU, who took part in the conversation, to have this withdrawal of the protection of (strictly protected!) Agreed peregrine!

Even my mounted in peregrine Box Security Camera (camera trap) was without informing me, removed from the box! It should document the processes in the peregrine box after turning off the webcam.  All that I could notice today when I tried to replace the camera trap the batteries and memory card.  That webcams on the water tower are now turned on from conversion reasons again, does not mean that they will remain so. Soon, the peregrine Webcams BEW, their installation cost several thousands of dollars in public money, finally shut to the public at the request of pigeon fanciers! (The crude justification of fanciers I have already shown in my last post.)

The owl-defense grid at the box entrance is removed. Now, the eagle owl - the only natural enemy of the peregrine falcon - free access.

Sad news Ferenz. Very disappointing that they caved in to the "threats" of those pigeon keepers.

Up until now (16.41 pm Tuesday February 12) there still are images from the tower, refreshing every five minutes

I have read this thing twice to try and understand what is going on. So the pigeon lovers cannot bear to watch the pigeons being killed. We all know that this rarely happens, but who is making the pigeon lovers watch the cam? And what kind of people actually want the bars removed that serve to help keep the baby falcon chicks safe? That is twisted. Are not pigeons plentiful and falcons rare and endangered there? And who in the world would go along with this and dismantle the cams for some pigeon lovers, or perhaps they should be called falcon haters. It's shameful. I wished that falcons ate flowers, but they don't, they eat pigeons, it's how they were created.

Please excuse if I have totally misunderstood the situation.

A picture from today. I will totally miss seeing this beautiful pair raise their young.
