There are peregrines here today. I can say for sure that the male is Sol from last year, black D/20. The female is not Hurricane who had been the resident female since 2009. This female is unbanded. Last year Hurricane didn't return until April 11th, so there is a small window yet for her to return.

The ravens who are nesting on the other side of the building filled the nest box with sticks and twigs before they went to the fire escape. Both peregrines can't be in the box at the same time. I left messages for conservation, hopefully they will come and clean it out. I can't really see them nesting in it comfortably.

I heard back from TPC and they will be coming out to remove the sticks, so that's good! :buzzybee:

Well, Hurricane is back! I didn't see any falcons on Tuesday, then only Sol the next day. I saw a female there for two days but only managed to see today that it had a band. I didn't get the whole band but could see a 2 and 3 on it. Hurricane's band number is 23/Y. So I am pretty sure it's Hurricane and she looks fine..doesn't look like a feather is out of place. She must have chased the unbanded female out of her territory.

The unbanded female was here on Wednesday, April 12. She was in and out of the nest box and I saw mating that day also. On Wednesday, April 13th I took photos of the falcon, when I got home I looked at the photos and was surprised the female had bands. Upon closer inspection I could see Hurricanes partial band (black 23/Y). Hurricane must have showed up late Wednesday or early Thursday.

I think there may be an egg here or one coming. Hurricane has been staying in the box for long periods of time. I happened to show up at just the right time yesterday to catch them mating.

their parents will teach them to fly low. we have ravens not far from Radissons site and she hates ravens, but the parents all have their kids flying low thru territory. we chuckle when we see them. As soon as they are far enough away, they take to the air. LOL

radisson leaves them alone if they are low.

nice photos :eggthumb:

Hurricane and Sol have four eggs which are most likely to hatch around the first to second week in June.

We have at least one hatch today! We saw Hurricane take prey into the nest box and the leave with the remnants. :hatchegg: :flirty:

The last time conservation looked there was one hatch and three eggs June 13th. I finally got to see a chick in the box today when Hurricane was in feeding. From what I could see there is only the one chick this year. One is better than none! :dancegirl:
