TWO impressive birds out here at Redwater-both are a good size. Not sure if we have a new pair, or not.
The scratched lens (sigh) will be repaired within the next 24 hours I hope. The plan is to simply rotate the clear dome, so the scratched part is on the back, and not interfere with the viewing area.
Wish me luck!

Weber april18

Things are progressing nicely there. we are sure our female is Green and girl and pretty sure our male is same

as last year. We have not had him at beginning of season before so things were a bit different. remember he
came in after eggs were laid last year

Emmy sent me video of them bonding. we were so excited as he had not been to box

https://youtu.be/IqR9OtPdNhY

We were there for quite awhile this afternoon. It helps us because we can phone Emmy and she tells us who is in box.
Today, our male spent a lot of time in box. When we got there we saw flying.Green girl was in the box and the male on back of Weber. He obviously had prey so it was hard to see him,

After he ate,Green girl went to eat. I forgot my camera at home but we enjoyed seeing them flying. When we left our male was in box and Green girl was on an aerial on southeast roof. O f course as soon as we left, he came out of the box so we may have had good band read :girlcrazy:

Peter scoped our birds. We have definite bands for Green Girl M over 26. :sum9:
Emmy was able to get an M and a 6 from cam but Peter got the whole thing. Team work :penguin:

We are pretty sure it is our male from last year. Peter was able to get the 2 and he thinks a B . the sun was glaring off the shiny band
.
so a good day.

note:

one way to tell male from female as he has no trouble getting through bars, unless he has a huge duck LOL

Can someone let me know if they see any falcons in the Nutrien box? I am worried that camera move may have spooked them.

Female at Nutriem is in at 8:47 am and band shows N53. Last year’s girl is back. :sum9:

Missed the video as screen had changed from live and had to be restarted but I got a capture on my Ipad that I don’t know how to post.

9:40 am(nest time) unbanded male in box. He will take a while to ID. I will upload a video for both tonight if no one else gets one up today. I am rather snowed under at the moment.

Nutrien pair checked in today with 4 quick visits each. Here is a video of one visit by each. Quality of video by my old and overtaxed system does not do justice to the lovely new cam.

Outstanding.
The un-banded male, is likely "Bill" who has been the resident male since at least 2010. He's a prolific hunter, and a great dad! He took over incubation last year when the female left the nest. Hopefully the female stays put this time!!!
Very glad to see that the last minute work we did on the nest hasn't impacted the birds.

Battle in the Skies above RFO!
We have an interloper!
My guess is that Bill's reputation as the consummate "Ladies Man" has proceeded him, and we have two females fighting for bragging rights. Apparently the fight is happening as I type this, during which time I saw Bill in the nest for a brief second or two-which is leading me to believe we have two females fighting it out. I guess time will tell, but keep an eye out for new leg bands on the camera!

Emmy has kept close tabs on this site for me while I was away, and what a lot of actin. females fighting in air, box fight between two males .

all falcons back late this year and so lots passing through. they may sense it is late and hoping to find a spot before they get further north. Just a thought, not a fact.
I will catch this up this weekend with picutres etc. but Emmy did get our K14 here and before her N53 was here
nutrien( formerly agrium)

april28
what a falcon mess here. we have had several males which I will post about this weekend .

but yesterday and today this male seems to be r top dog( not sure if Bill, looks younger but cams are better and clearer. we have to do picture comparison,.

agrium april28

this is K14 from 2016 nesting season, also what this shows is: some naturally assume that the loser of a fight is seriously wounded and succumbs.
because we did not see beginning of season last year, w e never saw all. all we knew was we had N53. I thought we had K14 at start and stated that but then cams went off for a bit I could not get a good feel or Id. then we did not have cams for rest of season. We had the eyes of RFOfalcon. so for now K14 is back and we are not sure if this is Bill or not yet.

K14 was born at Weber in 2013( we rescued her and she was released at Pembina. parent DO1 and My MIss Edmonton. ) she is older and hopefully will know more .

Emmy is sending me some videos of last week. fights and all

so we wait an d see if this is settled. let us hope so. want no harm ot come to N53 either.
