so I iwll post some video tomorrow but they are nesting in a vent. We know which one adn Goerge has been trying to get them out.

Today , male came in about 6 times and scraped. First time he scraped this year. She was in twice with him But I am afraid if she has eggs and there is a good chance she does, and they cannot convince her to leave, she will not come to nest box.

They cannot reach that vent , but in fall will try and seal it off. confusing to me. cannot reach it but can seal it off. Anyhow, I am hoping for the best because I love this pair and this is the closest we have to a natural setting. And next year she may not be back. She is getting older

here she was on april 12.

pretty dirty from scraping in coal

here is video of 2 visits that my friend did for me. I do nto know what I would do without her. both are in this video

There is some wind here - the cam is shaking up a storm. No sign of falcons.

here is what is happening here

they nested in a vent . they tried to chase them out but hey were already committed. The male tried real hard to get her back here and I though they succeeded but she laid eggs . They can usually gather eggs and force her back to nest but they are on a slow down there. ( we all know why) so htey did nto have manpwoer to put up scaffolding to get up to vent and it was too dangerous to get there form inside . so in fall they will get up there and put in chicken wire.

too bad for this year but they are leaving cam up so we can see if the adults come back at some time . Gord is very doubtful if eggs will hatch . If they do , maybe juveniles will come to box.

Peter and will get out there when things are better at Edmonton sites. and I will share pictures of where they are.

it is a shame as they are such good adults

After talking with George and Gord, Peter and I took a drive out to Genesee.today.

I f there were juveniles they would be fledging or close to fledge. George had indicated that he heard a lot of noise from vent.

So I needed a ride in the country , nice day, no rain ,. George arranged for us to go inside. WE had hard hats on ,safety goggles, fire proof coats and of course name tags. I should of had Peter take a picture but I was looking for falcons.

Before we went into area we went up on lookout hill. and voila, I had an adult in view. It was on nestbox stack. it then flew aorund an d came up our way on power pole. so I figured it was positioned to watch something( juvenilles ???)

So we went down and as we go t close I saw flying. there was at least one juvenile, maybe two. :flirty: we saw 2 flying together but were only sure about one. Of course , we caused a commotion becasue we stopped where we should not ,to watch :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy: and of course we do not know if same two flying all the time.

then we saw where they were nested. :hapdance: I had wrong vent. It was one they tried to nest in two years ago and they put an dummy owl in to deter them. :laugh

our adult female was on top of vent and there was one juvenile in side. at times it snuggled up to owl :teehee: :teehee: so much for the owl . we were right underneath them.

we were there about 2.5 hours. George drove Peter around the back as we had seen a juvenile tuck down there , but they could not find it, or them. but we know that they can make themselves scarce when they want to. We should have come an hour earlier or after 3pm but time was limited to day.

We then headed out and went to a few more spots that we watch from , and saw adult male back on nest box stack at top.

I talked to one man, and he said he saw a youngster flying late last week, it looked like it was in training,. That sounds about right. this young female should go tomorrow or next day. Great spot actually ,for these guys. lots of places to land that are safe. and no one bothering them

so we had a nice successful outing. We have at least 2 juveniles, maybe 3. what a surprise. Great adults , these 2 are. :7val:

will post our meager pictures later

Depending on our life circumstances, we may try another trip out there on weekend. cannot promise. [/b

this was a juvenile flying. when we had 2 flying we could not lock in on pciutre. so it may have been 2 juveniles or an adult and juvneille

George sent me link to cam and no sooner i put it up and we had 2 falcons.
male has no bands

female does and I have call into Gord now for I/D ( not in my records)

my friend is getting tape for us.,

so here we go. A different female so maybe she will stay in box. They screened off the vent form last yer.

I will miss my other female ( if she does not come back) as she was a great mom, but I will think of her as in retirement with Miss Edmonton

april 10

female - M27( she hails form inland cement in Edmonton. she was born in 2013. her and her 2 siblings were taken from site at banding and prepared for Pembina release. the reason for this is 3 young chicks needed a place to be. fostered. they were found under a bridge and would be too young for hacking program.

male- same unbanded male. We have looked at every other pciutre form previous years and it is him.

We will miss our other female as she was a great mother. She produced and fledged many young ones successfully. even when she nested in vent last year. She fledged at least 2.( I will try and count back how many later date)

this is grat news for hacking program. She is nesting not far from where she was hacked. We know on e of her siblings made it through his first year as he got in a fight not far from Genesee in 2014 and had to be rehabilitated. He was flown and trained by a falconer and was released.

this gal is a riot to watch
