It appears that Iris has 2 eggs...not sure when #2 arrived, but it is there.

1:07 am - Beautiful Altera - a first time mom to be.


5:12 pm - Altera took a break and let us see the large pip in the egg. It is best seen in the smaller inset, top right of the pic - the egg on the left.

We have a hatch! 7:45 pm Oklahoma time. Altera gave a 1st feeding at 10:35 pm. A new life for a new Mom. Congratulations Altera and Mr. T.

3 am report - Official hatch overnite, Mr. T has brought 7 items! lol whatta guy!
Altera is clucking gently, fussing - several have believed this is her first brood, she could be confused. I hear the owlet peeping.

3.18 am I saw the baby!

And I thot there'd be no owlets this year -
and now we can watch OKC nad Iris BOTH!

I cannot believe they put a go-pro camera in the nest. Altera was just trying to move it out of the way, as it is right in front of her and under her breast where the owlet is. Are there not enough cameras around the nest that it was necessary to put a foreign object IN the nest too! I don't think that was very bright. That really infuriates me...I may not watch this cam.

10:53 pm - A peek at the new owlet. You can just see the head under Mom. The arrows show where the camera was. Altera later moved it away.

Shep, I got a pic late last night during a feed that I'll post tonight after work. The camera issue really bothers me and I don't think it's funny. Chat scrolls a disclaimer about how technology brings this nest to viewers and all devices have been cleared with various agencies. These are not pets. They are wild animals. Viewing should be done in the most NON-INTRUSIVE manner. I highly disagree with placing a loose foreign object, the size of a cell phone, in the nest. It was clear last night that Altera did not want it near the owlet and was trying to move it out of the way.

Altera took a nice break to let us see the owlet. I understand there is no pip yet in the remaining egg. I am very glad to report that the go-pro camera is gone. Mr. T has been very busy...notice the full pantry of food. Altera certainly picked a keeper.

7:16 pm - Oklahoma time. Baby pic after a good feed by Altera, who then fed herself and took a fly-about. Mom must have been famished. I watched her down one rat whole, following by more nibbling on another. Pantry is full of rodents. Baby's head on the left side with a view of the eye, still closed.

I remember the mods declared one egg inviable a couplle years ago - then way past due - came Amur. LOL!

Awesome news, Loza. Thanks for that great pic of both little heads peeking out from under Mom. Amazing how much the older one has grown in comparison to the new hatch.

Iris is currently off the nest. Lots of hooting going on by Rusty and Iris. Wonder if Lilith, the wild owl is bothering them again. I see 2 eggs in the nest. Whoops...Iris just cam back to settle on the eggs.
