7 am eastern March 22
The owl on the RIGHT is off to the side and I see one egg.
If the male is bringing a rabbit my guess is he knows hatch is close.
She likely flew off to stash the prey.
Wish there was IR

Thanks SWIn

:1snowmancarrot: They have IR. They explained why it is not as easy to see, goes almost black in the middle of the night, but I forget the reason.

Jina is the one with 3 eggs (1 cracked), although I believe I read 1 of them is behind the sprinkler head and you can not see it.

One of these days, I am going to quit talking to myself. I left for the store @ 0400 and I had written about Jina repositioning more than normal, although the wind was blowing her feaathers, but not Sienna's, etc. Now, I am back and not only is my comment not showing on chat (it was the only one), But someone named Mr2Ducks has written between 2 comments, essentially what I had said. Shep, are you Mr2Ducks? :teehee: Yes, I am getting paranoid!! :taz:

Do we :hatchegg: or don't we??? I finally figured out why Jina"s feathers are blowing in the wind more than Sienna's, even when they are facing in the same direction. Jina has her feathers fluffed out as in more insulation for possibly someone that needs it other than her. ??? Wonder if Jina had a hatch last night. I first noticed her repositioning over the eggs more than usual and her feathers blowing in the wind, when Sienna's were not @ about 0400 DCST. Or maybe, there is a hatch in progress!!

SWINNY, those 2 owls are almost so still they are like those rocks!
That looks like an awful spot to raise young
I think Jina has a bunny under her staying warm enuf to feed young.

:sham3: Msg from DRI Admin: As of last pm there is an IR illuminator on them. They are working on placement. Thus, the spotlight effect on Sienna tonight. The owls can not see this.

:1snowmancarrot: I think this solves the almost total blackness in the middle of the night and hopefully, will make sharper image, we'll have to wait and see!! :dancegirl:

:flirty: As of now, Sienna is On Jina's nest and Jina is on Sienna's nest. I looked in on chat and was alerted to Jina leaving @ approx 0137 their time tonight. You can see Sienna show concern for Jina's nest looking up a few times @ her nest. Then she politely got up and settled on Jina's nest. I thought great, there must be a hatch or almost hatch, as I have never seen this exchange previously. After maybe 10 minutes Jina returns and sits on Sienna's nest. After awhile, she gets up, goes over to Sienna and they softly, beak a couple times. She returns to Sienna's nest. After a loooooong while, she gets up again, walks up behind Sienna and they beak again, but you can tell she wants back on her nest. There is 1 sharper beak and it appears to me Jina's ears are down. Sienna refuses to get up and Jina returns to Sienna's nest. I am sure this will return to normal. Sienna has to fly off @ some point ... right!! :teehee:

:flirty: As I leave, Jina remains on Sienna's nest. She is not taking her eyes off Sienna. Sienna stood up and reshuffled a little and back down on Jina's babe and eggs..

:flirty: After several more gentle attempts, Sienna left @ 0450 and Jina reclaims her nest!

So - the owlet has hatched?
They are co-parenting - cool
If this is one owl's first year it may not know she cant leave owlet exposed
This shd be really interesting.
I thot I saw one owl give the other the STINK EYE

:1snowmancarrot: Shepherd, I wish Sienna would go to the stash, if there is one yet and bring back food and place it in front of Jina as a good will measure!! Hahahaha! Jina may be concerned, she'll have to deal with Sienna again. She keeps looking @ Sienna. Sienna is a whopper!! Although, Jina did leave once since her reclaim of her nest and that's when I saw the wing flip, while it was still on IR.

HATCH!
March 24, 2018

Sienna gave food to Jina TWICE
1.30 am I saw male bring food
I think owlet is hatched, appeared Jina was feeding it
1.50 am Sienna gave food to Jina and flew off - I see her 2 eggs
4.45 am Jina got up and I see the owlet wiggling around.
