Video: Mom Flies Down to her Baby Eaglet

You can see Madame Sidney's shadow, as she perches on a branch above the nest, watching over her little one

Very cool video. Do you think Madame knows where to sit to yield shade upon her eaglet or are we talking coincidence?

We've seen Frieda shade her chick from the hot sun (Frodo & Frieda Peregrine Falcons), so I think these eagles do that, too.

Video: Madame Sidney Feeds Her Baby Eaglet

The meal lasted about eight minutes. Baby eaglet was sleeping, and Mom awakened him. Dad had come to the nest for a few minutes earlier.

When they are in the nest and standing with wings out to shade the chicks, I believe they are doing that consciously, but sitting high on a branch with their shadow over the chicks, do they know what they are doing? :hmmmm

Wonderful video, beans. That bowl is really deep!

Very strange ... there used to be lots of people on the Sidney chat, never anyone there now. I guess they're all over on Hornby.

It grew overnight ... yep, it did!

Thanks for documenting that, beans. I love hearing them talk, and just glad the danger passed quickly.

The view just gets worse and worse. I wish they banded this nest just so they could clean the cam!

Video: Time Flies at the Sidney Nest

Q: What do we do when the star of the nest, aka Solo, has managed to nail the camera twice?

A: We make a very short video.
