Video: Welcome Home Sidney Bald Eagles

I like that brief "beaking" between the two of them

:welcome Welcome to the forum, beans! It's great to have you here.

Thanks so much for your video. I always love to see eagle pairs working together on their nest, getting each stick and each tuft of grass arranged just so. And a little beaking interlude makes it all the more special.

I set up a YouTube account just for eagles, where I am uploading videos about the Sidney and Hornby Island nests, with proper credit, of course. I started with the first nest I ever watched, Hornby Island, in 2006. Then Saanich-Sidney in 2006. I was just learning how to make videos. The sound on Hornby was superb, but sound on Sidney was poor. The reason is that a crane was quickly set up, with camera attached, to watch the Sidney nest when the eggs of the Hornby Island eagles didn't hatch. The microphone and camera were not close to the nest. They could not be positioned closer, as the nesting season had already begun and moving the set-up closer would have disturbed the eagles, which would be both inhumane and illegal.

Why add old videos to a new YT site? I was horrified when Putfile was discontinued, about a year ago, because NatureGuy (whom some of you might remember from the Infotec days) had posted several hundred video clips of the 2006 Sidney nest, which are now gone.

I feel privileged to have such intimate views of wildlife via these cams. I knew very little about eagles before they were shown in dramatic live, streaming video! I can't wait to see what happens next.

Video: Sunset Housekeeping

Monsieur arrived at the nest around 5:15 PM. A few moments later, Madame arrived. After 15 minutes or so, both left.

Video: Monsieur Sidney Delivers a Big Branch!

That branch must weigh a lot! And think about the eagles flying into trees and breaking off these large branches with their beaks!

Hello Honey, I’m home

Video: First Egg for the Sidney Bald Eagles

Madame is incubating the egg. Monsieur arrives and they switch places. He will stay about half an hour before Madame returns.

I wonder how many eggs there will be this year. Perhaps we'll see triplets again... for the third time in a row!
