I'm "bummed" (and that's the nicest word I can write/put out here - ha, ha  ) that I hadn't seen the voting post sooner than this morning for this, but I JUST voted for the Wildlife Center of Virginia  and will continue to do so every day between now and December 3rd!

Also, wanted to wish all of my fellow BCAW "family" :pumpwave: and all of their loved ones a wonderful and Blessed Thanksgiving! :harvest:

The new nest picture was taken Friday 12-3-2010 at 10:00 a.m. The pair have been working
on this nest for a couple of months. They usually leave the nest before NBG opens but yesterday
the male stuck around until about 8:30 a.m. The pic is of him yesterday morning.
We are all waiting to see where the exclusion zone will be set up by the VDGIF on Dec. 15th.

Thanks for the welcome! The 2009/2010 nest is about 150 feet or so to the right
and forward of this new nest. The 2009/2010 nest was built in 2004 and used up until now
except for the 2008 season. In 2008 they built another nest which is just off to the left
and forward of the new one. They used that nest in 2008 only.

Hey jim, are you one of those dedicated photographers at the Garden? My husband and I were there in April and talked to a photographer up in the "observation deck" (not sure what it is called.)

I can certainly understand that you love watching and photographing those eagles and in such a beautiful setting. I hope you'll be sharing some of your experiences in the coming season from the photographer's perspective.

On Dec 15th the VDGIF (Virginia Dept of Game and Inland Fisheries will create the
yearly exclusion zone around the NBG eagles nesting area. If the pair at NBG choose this new
nest the photography end of it will become tougher than it has been in the past, due to
the location of the nest. I took this picture yesterday afternoon at around 4:15.
The male is on the left and female is on the right. They are sitting on what locally is known as
the "Love Branch" which is just off the 2010 nest. I thought I would post it because this sort
of picture will be hard to come by until next spring. If you wish to view more photographs of the
"NBG Eagle 2011 Season" click on my website and open that album.

Now THAT is one gorgeous photo, jim!!! :sfclap: It would be nice if they chose the 2010 nest knowing now that the view is better as well as the cams already being in place. We'll just have to wait and see. :hmmmm Is that Mom on the right and Dad on the left?
