All points well taken, Finn, thanks. Maybe I was anthropomorphizing, thinking of, say, my parents who needed to do a little "courting" periodically to make sure the bonding still worked. A human failing, perhaps. Wildlife seem to have things in better order than us.

Thank you Finn and elf. Interesting discussion and I too am guilty of using loose terminology in some video titles.

elf, thank you so much for this morning's video. I caught the 2 visits as well and then I lost internet until 6pm nest time. It happened yesterday as well (also have shuttering in the stream) but only for 2 hours.
I'm wondering if the pair can just hold off until I can remedy this ?

Mick, how frustrating for you! I waited around to post my vid to see if you had it -- you are usually quicker than I am. Sure hope your internet behaves for you today.

Thank you elfruler. That was a log! It seems that their movement causes the intermittent freezes on the new cam (?)

Thank you elf!

Three videos today.
I'll just post this one and leave links for the others. Here is one of the new cam views; high up with the entire nest in view.
We are going to be able to see the 2012 eaglets when they get too close to the edge. The mods on chat will be working overtime!

Both of these are pans. The first with the male and the second with the pair. Windy day.

Terrific videos, Mick, thanks so much! I saw some of it but not all, so I'm sure grateful for your on-the-spot reporting.

A truly joyful event occurred yesterday in Decorah, when a juvenile bald eagle that had been found injured by a car, rescued, and taken to SOAR (Saving Our Avian Resources) for treatment and rehab, was successfully released back into the wild. Here is the report from SOAR on the juvie's treatment (scroll down to September 16):
http://www.soarraptors.org/patients.html

And here is an extended discussion in the RRP Forum:
http://raptorresource.org/forum/index.p ... 798.0.html

But best of all, here is video of the release yesterday:

And a couple of wonderful slide shows of the event:

This juvie was tested for lead poisoning, as is becoming routine in rehab centers around the country. She had a low-lead blood level which may have impaired her vision and reflexes and prevented her from detecting and getting out of the way of the car that hit her. My fear is that she could again easily come into contact with lead and once again become endangered. Here's hoping we can all work together to remove lead from all areas of our environment.

10-25-11 John Ehrenfeld makes great maps using RRP information about E2/D1's travels. This was posted yesterday. Safe and sound E2.

This is a video from the 17th. Last night I was reviewing recordings and found additional footage which I added to the original video (which I never posted here ?!) The male chases a squirrel and a bird from the nest and I added a fly-by at the end- because I like fly-bys
