Telling Mom & Dad apart (thanks to Congowings): "It is easier to see differences when they are both side by side: however, the female is larger than male, including larger feet, bigger beak (upper mandible is deeper & mouth goes back farther under eye). On this particular pair: male has a sleeker look (flatter head when feather’s aren’t ruffled), the female’s head appears rounder. When looking close, it almost looks like male has eyeliner on his eyes."

Yesterday morning Mom brought in a very large piece of lumber for their new nest and quickly departed. However Dad sat just outside the old nest on the "Love Branch" for close to six hours. Here he is doing a seventh inning stretch.

Wonderful photos, Jim!!!

Mr. Lukei also took some very nice screen captures this morning (Sunday, the 2nd of January) of the Norfolk Botanical eagle pair and posted on CCB's Eagle's Nest Blog. The female seemed to be in a loving mood - To view "Nuzzle, Nuzzle" and other posts, please visit: http://eaglenest.blogs.wm.edu/

Thanks for those links to the videos, annsva. The nest is looking really good. I wonder where they get those clumps of grass.

This morning both adults were in the nest tree. They made a few stick
deliveries and off they went.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful response!
Yesterday mid morning both adults flew into the nesting area with the male delivering the goods
and the female circling the area. We soon found out why as this juvie flew in behind them.
That is her flying above the juvie. He/she peacefully left the area as Mom escorted this eagle away from NBG.
