Norfolk Botanical Gardens (NBG): USTREAM

Nest location:
Norfolk Botanical Garden in Norfolk, Virginia. The eagle pair at Norfolk Botanical Garden were together for 9 seasons. On April 26, 2011 the female was struck by an aircraft at Norfolk International Airport. Her 3 eaglets were removed from the nest and cared for by the Wildlife Center of Virginia.
The male at NGB is 15 years old and has produced 20 eaglets. In late September 2011, the male was seen with a new female. She is at least 5 years old and is most likely from the Hampton Roads area. We wish them well.

Thanks for posting the images obxbarb. This is a handsome pair and Reese is capturing great images. In some of the pictures of her it looks like she has grayish feathers around her eyes like the Decorah female does.

Yes. Reese and Bryan say that's the sign that she is young (a first year breeder).

Thanks for pointing out the gray extending out from the new female's eyes. I hadn't noticed it before, but that will help with ID. :girlyes:
