NEWS FLASH The KGW camera site states that as of 0800 PT, there appears to be pips in two of the hawk's four eggs. site shows rather large pip on one egg on their site :egg4: :egg4:

Updated today at 9:40 AM

It appears that at least two eggs have "pipped" as of 8:00 am this morning! You can clearly see a dark spot on the egg that is in the back on the right hand side of the picture

again from the webcam host site of kgw

After the camera operator zoomed in for this shot , the parent "rearranged the eggs" and as she moved one of them the eyass plopped out from the shell. The one below is still working to "Break on through to the other side"

Image

(the egg behind the one with the noticable pip crack when the formel? rearranged herself and the eggs literally came out from the shell before my eyes as i saw the pink fluffball myself but didnt get a capture)

Mom is taking a break sitting on the rail. You can see her tail. The cottonballs were napping, then one fell back on the other one, you know how bobbleheads do that, and BAM! beak fight started :egg14: Dont worry, it did not last long. They finally settled down and resumed napping LOL Arent they just the cutest things? :egg11: :egg11:

Checked on the nest cam while mom was off the chicks and eggs and i think there is a pip in the third egg as of 715PM nest coast time. The pip is indicated with the red arrow in this capture

Image

Tis nice to have a nest coast hawk camera to view after it gets dark here in philly which ive been viewing all day long as hatching has been underway since 1040am philly time

So, hopefully Portland and here in Philly will have a nice easter gift tomorrow

These little guys are growing like weeds. They are losing the white cottonball look, and growing their grayish downcover. The smallest has now learned to peck the twins (#1 & 2) back and stretch his neck up high to appear bigger LOL. He also has better mobility, and can get out from the twins when they get food coma and drop their bodies on top of him. He used to get stuck, and miss out! But fear not, he is now getting his fair share. Tonight, mom fed them and pic 1 shows one of the twins with a really big crop. Pic 2 shows dad arriving on scene to check out his offspring and give mom a chance to take a break. Dad also fed them all some more, so Pic 3 shows the crop on twin #2. You can see how huge it is, the dark area of the crop, and the light area that extends beyond that is still his crop! It looks like he could gag its so big LOL. The smallest got his share and is doing well.

:hi: Here is an updated pic of our babies - look how big they are now! One of the oldest is nibbling on the prey for himself! Mom is taking good care of them, and the sibling rivalry pecking of the younger smaller eyass has stopped alot. He is more mobile now too, which helps him. :loveshow: :loveshow: :loveshow:
