LE - Thanks for the link to the article about Violet being rescued and now safely in the hands of wildlife rehabillitators. I'm overjoyed at the news!

I am just so relieved...and the pictures were just awesome...It looks like such a very loving couple. Now that she has also developed bumblefoot, its even more of a blessing that she was captured...IT was also so very touching to read that it appears that Bobby has been taking care of her by supplying her with food...As overjoyed that I feel that Violet has been rescued, I am equally saddened that Bobby may have lost his mate...

This is truly a blessed event. I am just overjoyed.

Bobby will find a new mate if Violet cannot be returned and although some may think nature should have taken its course, let us remember that it was becasue of the band that Violet lost use of her leg. that is not nature.

I will always be of the opinion that if we see any wildlife in danger or injured , we should help if possible.

God bless all involved and I will be waiting for reports on her progress. :girlluv:

We are extremely heart sick to have to announce to everyone that Violet has passed away . She came through the surgery very well . She woke up and was sitting up fluffing her feathers . All of a sudden she had a heart attack . the Vet did CPR on her for 20 minutes to no avail. xrays showed that at some point after her right foot had deteriorated , her left femur was broken . we don't know how she ever survived for as long as she did. We are somewhat relieved that at least Violet wasn't suffering alone somewhere . She was warm, peaceful and had a full belly and pain medication .We just couldn't get her in time.

That band was never on there properly or it worked loose. In any event there is no doubt in my mind that it was the band and they should have captured her earlier. They know how to do it.

I am extremely grateful that she was warm and in loving hands when she expired.

May you fly on angels wings Violet and know that you had the love of all of us with you.

This could have been avoided from the get go IF ONLY they would have got off their high horse and let the Horvath's go and get her way back when it was first noticed. they offered their help and nobody would listen I think they just didn't want THE people (who knew) to be right and them be wrong so they pushed the authority button, I'm rambling & bitching and you all getting the butt end of it (I'm sorry) if I don't then I'll just start crying again and my eyes just can't take it

I knew when I read that they netted her, that she must have been in really bad shape. I saw her accept the food from the lady's hand, and I knew she was hungry too because no rth would have done that from a human unless they were so very ill and hungry. The people at NYU are responsible because they rejected the Horvath's helping Violet back in May, and went with those people (who Lincoln Karim has already posted) had said PaleMale was sterile, and would never produce young. Those people are not involved in present day rehabilitation methods and such, they should have rescued her then, but said that Violet was in no danger. She was suffering terribly, with a broken femur on top of it. The Horvath's did the most kindest thing, catching her, feeding her, and giving her medication to relieve her pain. She may have been pain-free for the first time in many months. At this point we can only be grateful her last 48hrs of living were pain-free, and as they said, her belly was full, she was safe, and she even fluffed her feathers.

I find it hard to bear the knowledge of her suffering. Suffering which she had to bear every day and night for 8 months.

This is such sad news about Violet. But at least for the last few days of her life, she was well cared for by loving people who did all they could to comfort and save her.

OMG...I am just sick..There are so many things that I could say, but won't...I too am glad that she was warm, without pain, and had several goods meals. Bless her little soul...I am just so, so sad...(and I'm gonna say this anyway), I hope the State people who chose to stop the intervention have many sleepless nights. This didn't have to happen... :cryinggirl:

I am right there with you on your thoughts MA this was right up there with people that purposely hurt animals they caused her death and should be held accountable but you know they won'tI sure hope the public makes a big stink about it also
