I was at the nest this morning at 6:00, (because the cam was down) the juvie was there...no adult, at that hour he would have been fishing. Jeff got the cam back, and the juvie is still there  :D I'll be checking for the adult over the weekend.

I don't think so...juvie just took off with this piece of fish...not looking wet and only an hour. I think the male is helping out ;)

SGB, yes it is the juvie. The cam is not the best  but, still you can see this osprey has white tips on it's
feathers. Also, this late in the season it would be highly unlikely for an adult male to be on the nest, except for a very quick fish drop.

A great book on how to identify birds, any bird, is Sibley's Birding Basics. It teaches how to put together all the information you have, feathers, habitats, behavior, sounds, seasons, variations....to help with identification. Wonderful illustrations.

Thanks!!! I had the cam open for quite a while hoping to catch a parent...no luck...the little guy looked like he was watching a tennis match, though...right/left/right/left...it was cute...

Thanks for the book tip...I have heard of it and just need to break down and buy it...

These pics are from yesterday morning. The cam is down now, I sent Jeff a message. The ospreys are still there, I went to the nest at 6:15 this morning and saw both of them :D

I went to the nest at 6:15 am on 09/18, the juvie was not there, the male arrived with a fish at about 7:00 am. He landed in his usual tree and just looked around for about 5 min., then flew with the fish circling the nest a couple of times, then back to the tree. He looked around again for about 5 min. then repeated circling the nest. He went back to the tree and ate the fish, the juvie never showed up. He had a piece of fish left, flew over to the empty nest and just kept going. He didn't show up 09/19 or 09/20. He did a good job :loveheart2:
