That looks like one angry little osprey!

And it doesn't look to me as if the magpie(?) is at all intimidated, no matter how big the osprey fluffs itself up! :D

Lovely picture - thanks, pearl1! :D

Great pics everyone. Glad to see ya post ljames.

JudyB..the big bird that the osprey is irritated about is a hooded crow. I've seen a pair wandering about the nest looking for leftovers and bugs when the ospreys are away from the nest.

Thank you, shshen! Around here, crows are black - so I didn't think about the fact it could be a type of crow! I do love the fact that I learn all sorts of things from these forums! :D :D

Unfortunately the NATUREIT nestcam in Seili got struck by lightning twice this summer. The connection has now been down since the 26. of August. I read in the local newspaper, that they are trying to make the connection better equipped against lightning for the future, but in case the osprey youngsters Aarni and Eliel haven´t migrated to Africa already, they probably have before the nestcam has been fixed again. However, on You Tube there is a beautiful video showing some happenings in the nest January to August 2009:

Thanks for the update SS...I really was hoping they would fix it "again" ...

We enjoy looking at -who- is on the nest, the beautiful setting AND I think the Sea Eagles might
come back after the Osprey leave ;)

Hi!

This osprey cam is (finally) online again. Season is over but maybe we can see there something else interesting... like white-tailed eagles. :thumbup

Thanks, Ploughboy, for the great news about the Web cam being back up. I do remember seeing white-tailed sea eagles there during the osprey "off season."

For those not already familiar with this cam, here's the link:

:welcome Welcome to the forum, Wanderer, and thanks for the pictures.

I agree that it's nice to see the nest being used now that the ospreys have left for points south. Actually, it's nice to see the nest even when it's not being used . . . it's such a lovely view from there.

No big issues...You have only assign the source: Turun Ammattikorkeakoulu (or TurkuAMK)

I think that the logo in images upper corner is enough... don't crop it away

Turun Ammattikorkeakoulu = Turku University of Applied Sciences

Wanderer - The pictures you posted are fine! We haven't had any copyright issues with this cam - the copyright issues mentioned earlier were with the Hailuoto osprey cam at http://kotinetti.suomi.net/saaksi/index.php.

All - From Ploughboy's latest post, it sounds as if we should include the "TURKUAMK" copyright in the upper left-hand corner on future picture posts. Actually, I think most of us already do that to get the date/time stamp in the upper right-hand corner.

The White-Tailed Eagles seems to be little "scruffy" this morning... maybe they have been catching some fish a moment ago...

Slide show of some pics I took this afternoon. Hooded Crows, a Ferry passing in the distance, nothing spectacular, just nice to look at.
I did see something interesting though. Look at the waves behind the nest; they move in two directions and form a kind of squares.
