Jazzel ... thanks for the update. I'm not complaining mind you! I'm glad to have the cam working ... just noticing that it didn't look right. I must say though, looking at the posted pics the color looks fine...but when I watch the cam it seems so off color. :|

Hi Patti, I know you're not complaining , and if you were, I wouldn't be the one to complain to. I also read your post on Maine. I understand how unhappy you, and all the Dunedin Cam viewers are.

I have spent more time, for the past four days, corresponding with the very concerned volunteer staff at the Dunedin site, than I have on viewing or posting on the other relevant cams.

We have two forum members at the top of the Dunedin Cam site staff. Sparky Jones, is on our forum, she is #164 on our member list; the second Barbibird, she is #171 on our member list. You can PM or e-mail them with your observations and concerns, that would be very helpful. Be sure to let us know how things are going. I know they are working to resolve the problem, but often a second point of view helps.

Yes, the contrast "problem" makes viewing the camouflaged chicks difficult. Feel badly for the dedicated volunteers who are working valiantly to fix the problem. Kudos to you folks! :loveshow:

The two nestlings will be banded this week. Barb will let us know the exact day and time, so we can watch :openrose:

I received this email from Sparky on Thursday, but I couldn't post it because I was having computer issues, BIG ONES. :comp Dead mother board, I had to get a new computer.

"Barb and Linda,
I am fine with the banding. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about our apparently non-migratory ospreys.
I have two concerns however.
The first is funding. I have no idea where the money would come from for the project.
The second is logistics. Barb, I don't know if you have been down Alt-19 recently. Storm drain pipes are going in and the side of the road where the platform/nest is all torn up and basically appears inaccessible. In the past it has been very easy to drive a cherry picker over there.
Other than those two issues, I think it is a great idea....
Sparky"

I received this banding update from Barb Walker this afternoon. Barb and Sparky have done a tremendous job with this nest :bravo

"We are banding Thursday morning at 10am. I'll let you know if it changes for any reason.

Barb"

I got this pic from this morning's feeding, they are looking healthy

Greetings from Shanghai, China! Here for two weeks...6th trip to Asia. Love it here.

I know banding the chicks is important in the long run. I cringe, however, whenever I see photos of banding...think of Koo and wonder if it's possible to accomplish any banding in a gentle manner - certainly doesn't appear that way in photos. Worries me.

Patti, they didn't say anything about their sex, in fact, as far as I can tell from the video they did the banding very quickly, looks like they never got out of the bucket. Usually, when chicks are banded, they are also weighed, measured and their general physical condition recorded. I will ask Barb and Sparky for more details.
