Hi all from Dunedin!!!
You all have caught some incredible pictures....thank you so much...
We are finally coming out of a record breaking cold snap. The adult birds obviously made it through okay too. I hope the eggs are okay, but many of you have assured me that they will be.
During the cold days many fish were up near the surface and made easy pickings for the ospreys. Our concern down here is that with the huge fish kill during the cold period, there might be very limited fish available later this spring when the eggs hatch......time will tell....
In addition, new drainage pipes are being installed next to the road next to the nest. You will probably see the birds looking around a lot because of the commotion. I don't think the birds will be too upset though though because they choose to nest next to a public putting green, a heavily used walking trail and a busy road

We are looking into why we have no picture. Since this is a wireless system I suspect it is something which can be corrected easily.

Ah ha .. I tried to check on her late last night (early this morning) and thought maybe it got shut off during the night. I hope it's an easy fix.

I'm so glad that it was temporary. We had a big day here for Ospreys yesterday. A pole and platform was installed for a pair which were nesting on the low traffic signals on the bridge.
