Wow...very aggressive behavior exhibited by one of the chicks toward its sibs and the adult.

It looks like the intruder is back this morning I'm only guessing because
it didn't land
But then again maybe it was the fledgling, ok now I just look again
and I see 3 there

It says on the blog that the eldest more or less needs more work on landing
but I'll tell you I thought this was a pretty nice landing learning real fast

Hi Jazzel.

It is about 9a at the Loch Garten and there are two juvies wandering around the nest, calling for fish at the same time. They have been off/on the nest over the past couple days, hoping that their cries would be noticed by their parents. From the blog, it seems that Odin and EJ have left.

Well, the juvies just took off to the right of the nest. I'm figuring these juvies will be gone by the 29th...like they did last year. What do you think?

Hope you are getting better :-)

Hi Shshen,

The juvies certainly should start their migration anytime now, they have been flying for six weeks. Typically the adult male stays to care for them, until the last juvie migrates, as we know this nest is anything but typical. The juvies are at a disadvantage having to fish for themselves when they should be spending time perfecting their flying skills and putting on weight before migration. You can imagine how much time and energy it takes for a young inexperienced osprey to catch a fish, so it's understandable if they take a little more time to begin migration.
