EMPTY NEST AGAIN THIS MORNING, BUT THERE ARE SOME NEW ITEMS IN THE NEST, JUST CAN'T TELL WHAT THEY ARE.

DO THE JUVIES RETURN TO THE NEST? I'M NOT EVEN SURE..........

REENIE, yes juvies return to the nest after fledging if all went well. The male looks after the fedglings when they leave the nest, since this is the only juvie both parents are watching over it. It's very windy with rain, so that would make getting back to the nest more difficult.

I checked the nest yesterday, an adult was on the nest for a short time.

Hoping the fledge went well and the juvie will get back safely.

REENIE, I can't say if the juvie is male or female, but a great pic of the juvie on one leg, just like the adult female

Typically the adult female will stay on the nest site for about 3 weeks, helping to look after the juvie and getting herself in shape to migrate, after a sedentary 4 months on the nest. The male will stay to care for the juvie.

It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks for a juvie to migrate, learning flying skills and some fishing. When the juvie migrates the male will typically migrate within a day or two.

Key word: TYPICALLY :teehee:

THE JUVIE IS STILL IN THE NEST THIS MORNING WITH MOMA :-) THE JUVIE HAS A LITTLE BIT OF A BROWN SPOTTED NECKLACE LIKE MOMA, THAT'S WHY I THOUGHT IT WAS A FEMALE. BUT SOME MALES CAN HAVE THAT TOO, BUT USUALLY THE FEMALES ONLY HAVE IT.

I see it brought something blue with it and I never realised how big that nest is or is it how little the chick is
