aurora171989 posted the link to this cam last night...I've just now been able to get it...so, I'm not quite sure the hours it operates...

Outside a middle school classroom in Reno, NV. (Boy, wish I'd had something like this when I was in school!!!)

Must be on eggs...I haven't searched for more info...I'm sure the school has a home page (all schools do)...I'll look for it later..

I'm thinking it is a teacher maybe that answered my question about egg they said it was at lunchtime they saw the egg

yeah when I saw her yesterday, i figured she had to be sitting on eggs.

i did a google search for middle school reno nv and I believe it's o'brien middle school,the channel is oms, and the broadcaster is obrienms308, I guess 308 is the room number

mrs gho got up shifted and turned around slightly, I believe i saw 2 or 3 eggs, perhaps she just recently laid one?

Well,I had a nice little chat with someone at the NEW GHO cam at the Middle School....hee hee...they don't know how many eggs...cam generally goes off in the afternoon, but she's gonna leave it on for us...She said its a cheap cam, so she wasn't sure we would be able to see anything once it got dark. I told her we'd try and watch to see what happens and to see if we could tell the number of eggs...

....anyway...this is the second year they've had the owl nest. They are keeping it somewhat a secret. Here's the worse part. Last year she said some kids figured out where it was, threw rocks at the mom, and scared her away...so, the eggs never hatched...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

That is just terrible I sure hope those kids went on to high school and feels very bad for what they did

Had another little chat with the person from the school...she's all fired up now...she said that the class that we can see reflected in the window isn't even aware that the nest is out there...they can't see it from their classroom unless they go right up to the window...only the teachers know there is a nest there...That's really sad to me...what a wonderful educational opportunity...but, they're really not taking any chances right now. I also asked her if she had called the local wildlife people, and she had, but they hadn't called her back...

Since she's all fired up, she wants to figure out a way to install infrared (cam went dark around 9 pm EST)...well, I know nothing about that, but encouraged her to do nothing that would disturb the nest...so she'd have to do it from the inside...so, we need to put all our feelers out. I thought I could email a few people whose cams have night viewing to see what they use....like De Mortel, etc. I know one of the barn owl cams didn't add light until after she was in the box...now I just have to remember which one it was...if anybody else has ideas...just jump right in!!!

Well, hopefully educating kids about wildlife will help prevent episodes like last year at this nest.

Wizzz has a night cam in Montreal, also James River.
