It's difficult to see whether there are any eggs - as the site itself comments, but from what's said, it seems there's at least one :girlluv:

Look at the videos posted. They've put a "door" on the outside entrance so that the pigeons can't get in and there are some clips of a pigeon having a good look and even putting its head through the hole to see if it can't get through :teehee:

You know I saw that but thought maybe I just missed it last year I thought it looked like the Owl had a hard time getting in :teehee: It is good tho now the pigeons have to stay outside where they belong

Yes, someone on the Italian site thought the owl had a hard time getting in, too :valscratch: . Let's hope that, when the time comes, the little ones can get in and out...

:girlluv: :girlluv: the "little"owls at beleef are so adorable, and I love their sounds. What kind of owls are they? you probably told me and I have forgotten lol. Just trying to figure out their exact size - bigger than screech but smaller than barn?

Also those italian owls stella and her mate, they're screech owls, right? And they havent nested this year yet? I like to catch them theyre so adorable too...

THX for any answers in advance :valheart:

:valheart: THX for the info on the little owls.

I dont know if anyone has posted about this site, I didnt see anything, sorry if a re-post, but if you like Barred Owls, the owlguy's site owlets have already branched, and it is down now. So you can get your fil at the Leesville, NC Barred Owlcam on ustream!

Here are some pics, mom is on 3 eggs due to hatch anyday now, and there are 2 cameras inside, and he is installing one outside YES! so you can see them when they start branching YES!!

Didnt hear sound, so dont know about that yet?

Image
Beautiful mom in daylight sitting on her eggs

Image
Shot of her 3 eggs, due to hatch any day

Image
Other inside cam view, so we can see deliveries at the entrance hole YES!

So this is an excellent site to get a view into the life of the Barred Owls and their owlets, and there were only 3 people watching last night, so hopefully the word will get out and all can enjoy!

Here is a link to the site:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/leesville-owls

And I have posted this link before, but cant spread the word often enough, if you want to learn about Barred Owls in the real world, this next link is the place to go - it has 5 years or so of online daily "journal" where you can see each brood pictures and diary. On the "whatever" page are sounds of barred owls, and there is also a page to buy the DVD which I have and is a "documentary" style, mainly for adults to learn, young ones may not like listening to a narrator. But I have watched mine a dozen times just to see and hear the owlets LOL! It took me a month maybe to read all of the journal diary, but was well worth it! Here is that link:

ENJOY!

There is a Tawny Owl cam in the Netherlands on now.

The first (of the 2) was laid March 1. She started incubating right away, though not consistently. Anyway, with an incubation period for these owls of 28-30 days, hatching time is very near!

I'm sure the owner of the nestbox and the people of NestkastLive would welcome "overseas" webcamviewers or at least those in other time zones to keep an eye during "our night" (and the owls' day) - e.g., in the chat on the site I read that it wasn't clear whether the male had brought food during the past night.
You may also post observations in the chatroom - English will be no problem.

Some more info: during the past 2 years, Tawny Owls have nested there succesfully. The nestbox is designed for Tawny Owls. started incubating right away, though not consistently. Anyway, with an incubation period for these owls of 28-30 days, hatching time is very near!

Here are a few pics of the Barred Owls at Leesville, NC, called "The HOOT, TOOT, & TINY SHOW" LOL!

Image
See Hoot's little face markings? He is adorable! Toot is asleep, Tiny under mom unseen

Image
Here are all 3 lovelies!

Oh, and there IS SOUND! and he has posted videos of all the hatchings and some feedings WOW!!!

If you've never seen barred owls before, NOW is the time to watch. You will fall in love with them. And it is usually SAFE to watch, not as much drama as eagles and barn owls. (Did I say that?)

Mom and Dad will feed them small snakes, frogs, crickets, small birds (sorry!), chipmunks, mice, and such. Not really many birds because it takes mom a long time to remove the feathers, just like eagles, it takes long while hungry mouths are squawking...the other treats they bring are great to see for a change. And how the young ones react too!

Thanks, LeeLee! You are right. I had never yet watched Barred Owls - we don't have these in the Netherlands, but I realised right away they are related to Tawny Owls (which is Strix aluco and Barred Owls = (Strix varia). But now I have another place to stop by ...

Image

As for the Dutch Tawny Owls - still no hatch, but it should be very close.

Dutch Tawny Owls - 2 have hatched (i.e., as far as we can see ...).
The 3 eggs were laid March 1, 4 and 7.
