Rusty & Iris GHO
Meet Rusty and Iris, two Great Horned Owls who can't live in the wild but CAN breed in captivity to help us learn more about the vocalizations of their species. Rusty was hit by a car and is blind in his right eye, and Iris' right eye was punctured, leaving her blind in her right eye also. They are still wild owls and need their privacy to breed, so they are housed on private property in rural Houston, MN. But this video stream allows you to share their lives from anywhere in the world.
And this might be time Iris isn't leaving the nest bowl for a long time now and she seems to be quivering a bit so stay tuned

Rusty & Iris 2 eggs now expected hatch date feb 22-24th

Uploaded by karlakinstler on Jan 25, 2012

Iris the Great Horned Owl is blind in her right eye and can't live in the wild. But she can breed in captivity to teach us more about the vocalizations of her species, along with her mate Rusty. In this video a cat is climbing on the side of the cage while Rusty watches it intently. But when the cat hops down and goes around the backside of the cage, it's too much for Iris and she bolts off the nest, revealing her two eggs. Thankfully, it doesn't look like she damaged the eggs in her flight.

I looked for her for 3 months when the cam came online and nothing and no one would reply to any questions so I stopped watching glad to see that she is real. :teehee:

Oh my gosh! Thanks for that one DEF! Wow, the sound ... she scared me to death! :) Wasn't expecting that! I think I hear cars/traffic as well though. Cam time is 6:32 A.M. as I watch.

Oh ... and I saw one of these Owls up close recently at the Eagle Festival in New York! :)
