Hopefully we'll have some eggs here real soon! First egg last year was laid on the 2nd.
The recent rains in California have made a mess of Starr Ranch. If anyone is ready for 2011 donations - this would be a good one!!

12/30/10 First, THANK YOU so much for visiting this and the other Starr Ranch cams and providing great questions, answers, comments and suggestions about everything. I’m really thrilled (and a bit overwhelmed) by how so many are enjoying these glimpses of real time life in nature. I will continue to make these cams as best as they can be.
At Starr Ranch we’re closing out 2010 with a new (or rather “not-seen-in-a-while”) challenge: We got hammered by the recent rains that hit southern CA. If you check our Facebook page you’ll see some pics of what we’re up against to allow us to keep Starr Ranch running. This includes getting our access road temporarily opened again and protecting our office from a potentially devastating mudslide and shoring up some portions of Bell Creek so we don’t lose any buildings if we get hit again with another huge rain event. And this is just in the HQ area. Pics taken the other day by Sandy’s habitat restoration Field Crew Leader Justin after a wade-the-creek crossings/hike down just 3 miles of Bell Canyon (we have 18+ miles of dirt roads through out SR) shows that we lost a LOT of road that until fixed will prevent us from doing all the restoration and education that occurs on the entire 4,000 acres. But we’re on it and keep doing the best we can.
