Wow! Great catches this morning, ljames. Your pictures really illustrate how hard it is to ID the falcons given the cam angle. Red Girl is at the top and looks smaller, while CJ is at the bottom and looks larger.

I just caught the end of the sequence with Red Girl alone in the box.

Let's hope and pray that Red Girl carries on her MOM's long and wonderful life.

I didn't go near the Brandywine Building yesterday. Between Monday evening and this morning the falcons have taken at least one mourning dove (identified from feathers) and three flickers and one yellow-throated vireo (all identified from heads). Apparently CJ continues to carry on his father's traditions although I understand that Red Girl also is a person of interest in the police investigation.

Make that four flicker heads, plus a mystery beak that I'm going to have to show to the ornithologist at the Delaware Museum of Natural History.

Wow Greg, what happened to the pigeon population? All these other birds. Let us know what you find out from the museum.

I agree; it's remarkable that this couple is apparently not very keen on pigeons and/or doves.

In 2003 -- 2009 (the previous pair's reign), pigeons were the commonest prey item and mourning doves were second. Mourning doves are most common so far this year, with pigeons probably following cuckoos and flickers. I have, however, seen bursts of pigeon feathers on sidewalks a few blocks from the nest site that I don't usually survey. Red Girl is catching pigeons but eating some of them away from the Building so I often miss them.

This year was unusual, first because we had three different episodes of courtship feeding of females by males: Caesar of the old Mom. Caesar of Red Girl, and CJ of Red Girl. So mostly male-size prey. The year also was unusual in that there were no juvies, alas. In previous years both male and female falcons hammered pigeons hard when the young birds were growing and hungry. Hopefully we'll see that next year.

WOW! THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL THE REPORTS, THIS ALL MADE ME CRY AGAIN THINKING ABOUT RED GIRL CARRYING ON MOM'S BLOODLINE AND SEEING THE BANNER ABOVE OF MOM. I GUESS I'M STILL NOT DONE WITH MY EMOTIONS COMING AND GOING.

I'M GUESSING RED GIRL IS EATING THE PIGEONS AWAY FROM THE NEST SITE SO SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO CARRY THEM AS FAR BECAUSE THEY CAN BE SO HEAVY.

AGAIN, THANKS EVERYONE. I DO CHECK IN HERE NOW AND THEN ESPECIALLY SINCE I CAN GET THE CAM ON MY PHONE NOW TOO, BUT I NEVER CATCH ANYONE.

That's just too funny, Greg!

Red Girl was in the nest box a short time ago, and then CJ appeared (or at least his feet did) at the top of the screen.

One of them is there now.

Mourning dove feathers and yellow-billed cuckoo head on the sidewalk. One thing I've learned from these falcons is that cuckoos are common, or at least they used to be.

Yes, let's hope that the cuckoos can survive the onslaught of the Wilmington falcons' hunting forays!

I think I might have seen CJ or Red Girl flying a little after noon today. I was driving out from the city and as I passed the DuPont Country Club, a bird flew up from the trees and over my car, about 20 feet above me. It sure looked like it had falcon markings on its underside, and it appeared to be the right size and shape for a falcon in the air.

Glad to see both falcons still there. do they migrate here.

Love the food reports.
I noticed a flicker at the Weber site in Edmonton. I love flickers, so although I know our falcons took it, I was sad. I also see a few beaks and feet of Grebes.

Our old male at Clinical always hunted Franklin gulls. Never pigeons. Now there is mostly pigeons ,with new male.

None the less, I wish nothing but the best at this site.

I managed to catch Red Girl during one of her brief visits earlier this afternoon.
