I'm getting everything but the still ledge, and it's off and on.

Edit: it keeps turning blue.

Packard Takes Flight!
Who in the world is Packard you ask?! Packard is a fictional peregrine falcon that
hatched at the Rhodes State Office Tower - he is the main character in the new
children's book by Susan Sachs Levine: Packard Takes Flight. One day, Packard
accidently fledges with a gust of wind and winds up visiting many sites around our
Capitol City before he finds his way back to the nest on the 41st floor of the
Rhodes Tower.

I had the pleasure of providing technical advice for this book! Susan first
contacted me about two years ago with lots of questions about peregrines
and about the falcon nest in downtown Columbus. As work on her book progressed
she kept in touch seeking additional information and updates on the peregrines.
Congrats to Susan on a delightful story that highlights many of the treasures
found throughout the downtown Columbus area, one of which are the peregrine
falcons! For more information goto: http://www.susanlevinebooks.com/

Somebody just left the ledge. Guess they had been there all along, just couldn't see them because it's so dark down there.
I think the cam is worse now than before.

In my picture, it looks like the falcon flew from the other ledge, but I'm pretty sure it was on the nest ledge. Could have been somebody on the other ledge too. We can only hope.

Flew by, landed @ 2:30E. Stayed in the shadow for almost 2 hrs (except for once when she went to the corner-see ljames' photo). She left around 4:30E. Can't be sure, but I'm assuming Durand. I can't see into the shadow at all.

Thanks Mick. I looked and looked to try to see her over there but coudn't so I thought she must have left, then saw when she really did leave.

I wonder if they have gone back to the 'new' cameras, because it seems worse to me, except not flashing so far, but then not too much falcon activity to trigger flashing.

With the new cameras, whenever the falcon got near them, (on the ledge and in the box) the crazy thing would start flashing, like disco lights making it almost impossible to watch. We went through a whole season of that, so I believe they switched back to the old camera this year and it has been fine pretty much, except for the darkness, but better that the flashing and darkness. I may be getting it confused, but I think that's right.

Thanks ljames...I wasn't here for the disco cam :P

Your welcome Susan :-)

This is off-topic but I wanted to tell all of you some good news. Roosevelt from AEP Indiana hadn't been seen since Oct 19th and he was seen at the nest today.

That sure gives us hope for Trooper

I was downtown today, arrived at 2:45 and went to the statehouse - saw a falcon on the ledge and when I bent down to get out the camera she was gone and I never saw her again - I thought she might have gone back in the back of the ledge - I walked around everywhere with no luck of seeing Trooper though - bummer

I am on my way to the OSU Men's basketball game - I will tell more a little later of my walk around downtown

Since Roosevelt has been seen, I do have some hope but the layout is very different between the two nests. There, the camera is a manual refresh with a very limited view and it seems that the cam was stuck some (at least for me) during the time he was not seen. It would be easy to miss him. Here, the cams are streaming, with exceptional views. It would be hard to miss seeing Trooper if he were around. I just can't understand why, if he is ok, he would not come to the ledge and to Durand. It has been what, 8 days now? There is always the outside chance that he did migrate, but seems suspicious that he did so right after the big fight. I will go crazy waiting until next spring to see if he returns.

The thing is, even if rosekk17 sees two falcons, how will we know if it's Trooper and not the intruder? Well, I still want her to be on the lookout, anyway, of course. I just want to see him clearly on the ledge. I will continue to look for him as long as it takes. Plus of course looking out for sweet little Durand too. I hate seeing her alone.

Thank you again rosekk17 for trying so hard to find him.

I've had the cams up since before dark...no action yet...refresh cams are strange...If I manually refresh, I get a current pic...otherwise I'm getting a pic from yesterday...odd...

The refresh turns blue on me SGB. If I manually refresh, I see the picture, but then the next automatic refresh, it goes blue again. That's the outside, the inside, when auto refresh, yesterday's date.

I'm really beginning to think that Trooper has migrated, that little stinker. I agree, ljames, that it will be VERY hard to wait until spring to really know for sure. Maybe Trooper will do like Harrisburg's Lil Dad and just take a short vacation and be back in a few weeks.
