Great pictures, Reenie. I wonder if the cooler weather is getting them thinking about next season instead of summer vacation.

My guess: first picture is Red Girl, the others show CJ, a bit confused, as tercels often seem to be after their lady leaves the nest.

I can see one on the box ledge now. Red Girl, I think.

Flicker feathers on the side walk.

I was outside five minutes ago (12:48 pm EDT) when I heard a falcon calling Cack! Cack! Cack! Red Girl swung into view over 12th and Orange Streets a block from the nest box and about half as high. She circled around and powered up to the box. CJ immediately plunged down from high in the sky somewhere and joined her. She must have seen him the whole time and been calling to him. I think that they like these bright, windy Fall days.

I don't see them on the camera but one may be on the box ledge.

THAT TYPE OF NOISE IS USUALLY RELATED TO AN INTRUDER BEING IN THE AREA. WE CALL IT THE ALARM CALL. SOUNDS LIKE RED GIRL IS VERY PROTECTIVE OF HER LEDGE TOO EVEN IN THE OFF SEASON :-)

I agree that it usually is an alarm call. She did it Friday too, and looked like she was after something (quickly out of sight behind an office building). I didn't see a second bird on Friday, and today the only second bird I saw was the male. Knock on wood, but Red Girl is big and young -- CJ too -- so hopefully they'll hold their own and launch a bunch of youngsters next year and for years thereafter.

A few minutes ago both falcons were on building ledges. Mourning dove feathers on the sidewalk below.

LAST TWEET ON TWITTER FROM DEP:

Did you know that the Peregrine Falcon's alarm call is a loud series of harsh "kak, kak, kak?"

FUNNY THEY SHOULD MENTION THAT GREG.

I looked at the web site about five times today, and found nobody home. Glad you did, Alison, and thanks for posting the great pictures. Boy, Red Girl is REALLY bowing in that one!

Thanks Alison. I look at this site several times a day. Never see anyone! Last time I went on Rt.95 looked over at the building and I believe you can see the white droppings on the ledge of the box. Will check it out again. Hard with driving and looking you know!!LOL
