I usually see one of the falcons outside everyday but usually not both at once, so it was good to see Alison's picutures from the box. I was inspired to go up on one of the parking garage roofs after lunch and sure enough they both were there: CJ on the ledge to the left of the box and Red Girl two ledges to the right. Red Girl looked down at me and made some muffled cacks which I understood to mean "Three's a crowd, buster. Shove off!."

Woodcock and, you guessed it Reenie, mourning dove on the menu today. That's what I would order, too, if the alternative were city pigeon.

Thanks Greg. Would there be white droppings on the outside of the ledge?

Yes, on the ledge that the box sits on.

OK. Then I did see that from Rt.95 bridge going over the Brandywine. Thanks Greg. It shows where the nest box is along the row of ledges. Great.

Plucked pigeon feathers on the parking garage roof across the street from the nest site.

Glad to hear it for a change. Thanks Greg. My Son was outside the shop this morning , and a Red Tail flew right over him. All the Grackles scattered. The Red Tail went down to the river and flew east along the river.

Great pics, SGB. I don't seem to have any luck at finding the love birds at home when I look. Must have just missed them this morning.

At 9:25 this morning I saw two peregrines flying around the City/County office building between French and Walnut Streets at 8th Street -- eight blocks southeast of the Brandywine Building nest site and another three blocks southwest. The smaller falcon flew off behind another building and the larger perched on the City/County building. Maybe this is one of Red Girl's hunting spots.

Sunday a friend saw a peregrine plucking a pigeon at the YMCA building, across 11th Street and two blocks northwest of the Brandywne building.

CJ has not been idle. Mourning dove feathers and a woodcock beak on the sidewalk below the nest box this morning.

GREAT REPORT GREG! WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THEM IN THE BOX TODAY. YESTERDAY JANE AND I WENT TO THE CONOWINGO DAM, THERE WAS A MAN AND WOMAN THERE FROM WILMINGTON. THEY LET US USE THEIR SCOPE TO WATCH THE TWO FALCONS THAT SHOWED UP DOWN THERE. THEY KNEW THERE WERE FALCONS IN WILMINGTON, BUT DIDN'T KNOW ALL WE KNOW ABOUT THEM!

Thanks for your report, Greg!

I was browsing the pics at the DEP website & ran across this one of Red Girl when she was a "baby". (Her band ID is quite clear, so I'm sure its her & not a red-banded chick from another year.)
