Fortunately there are experts watching and rescuing these little ones as they struggle with first flights.

Well, isn't Craig just a cutie patootie. :loveshow: Glad he checked out okay during the 1st exam and hopefully he will pass the second one. What is it about this nest, carly, that is so dangerous? Being near the airport?

Well Darn! This is crazy, and must be 100 times for those on the ground. Awaiting news . . . and hopefully it will be good news.

That's good to hear, carly. After re-reading Mark Nash's report about searching for 2 hrs before seeing the adult fly in at 11 a.m. makes me think he started looking at 9 a.m. Our juvies are typically active from about 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., then they hunker down for several hours. There might be a little bit of activity during the day but not much, then they would get active again after 6 p.m. It can be so frustrating when they are squashed down and hiding.

I must say Carly, when I come to read your reports on the Canadian nests, I add more grey hair to my head!!! Thank goodness for all of you on the ground!!! Where would these fledglings be without all of you...I'm starting to think that Richmond has it right...pen them until they are so strong their first flights are successful!!! (actually, I have mixed feelings...Richmond fledged today..so we'll see how they do!!)

Oh my  poor Wade! He must have been so scared. Thank goodness Bruce was there and rescued him immediately. Hope there is no serious injury. Do you know how long the cool down period is before a juvie is released?

All have successfully fledged here and doing well. Even Wade who had to be rescued was "cooled off" and reexamined and released with no injuries. :spingirl:

This is sad news Carly,. but i am glad the other 4 are doing well.

As an observer , here in Edmonton, I dread it also when they are flying well. Because as you say, they are more confident and then..... It is great to watch them but your heart stops many times.
