yes that's right KF - they did change the nest at a crucial time in the courtship/mating cycle & yet they were lucky & S&H made the nest anyway - good on them (S&H that is)!!! So maybe they got spoilt, Alcoa that is, & decided "hey we can just change it any old how, any old time & they'll still nest" ... NOT!!!

but then that makes me think that there was NO REASON for the extra room at the new Alcoa nest box - no structures involved at all!!!

Yeah, that nest is Poland is more like a two room suite. Heck, maybe it's the poor design of the new nestbox that prevents them from going there. They are like, the home will not be nearly big enough for our growing family. :-)

I was thinking that it is a half as-ed atempt at a box in my opinion
they just thru something together and then it dawned on them that it wasn't
strong enough so they put that divider in for stability at the last moment.

UPDATE
Tuesday August 24, 2010
The new nest box for Sheila and Havoc remains vacant and any day now it would be expected that Sheila would settle down to lay her first egg. Regular patrols continue
of the Power Station in case Sheila returns here but at this stage there is no
evidence of a 'nest'.

YEH RIGHT I bet they are up there on the tower

good on you KF for spotting the Alcoa update :attention:

And I guess it is kinda "good news" that they haven't seen S&H trying to make a nest anywhere around the plant - phewww! (sort of :confusedsun: )

Hopefully they have found somewhere else on the Alcoa property altogether - afterall they did also originally nest on the quarry wall - I wonder if they have checked out there???

Well it sure appears that we won't be watching Sheila and Havoc raise a family this year. I sure hope that they can adapt to this cruel turn of events. :-(

Maybe the woman with the falcons nesting in her window box will post pictures for us occasionally, otherwise we won't see any Australian falcons at all.

ljames, you have given me an idea. I think I'll contact the newspaper where the article appeared and ask them to forward an email to the lady inviting her to join us here.

Pru, in case you missed the article which kittenface posted in the IN THE NEWS section, here it is:

Great idea, Susan! Maybe if she's really into watching these falcons, she will install a cam!
