Thanks for catching the feeding, Bev! So glad this little one is doing well! There is a problem with their sound now. It used to be so good & it was very pleasant to listen to the church bells ringing at noon. They probably can't do anything with it until after nesting season.

I sent the Barcelona group ane-mail ,thanking them for taking the action they did. I also inquired about what happened to adult female, and asked how the young females were doing and asked if they would be psoting picutres

Here is the reply

Hi Bev,

The females are growing with a new mother and two new brothers. Probably next week we will carry them to a natural nest. We will try to put some photos.

The adult female?? We found her with a terrible impact.

Best Regards

Eduard Durany

Thanks for emailing them Bev & also for posting their reply. I wonder why they are being put in a natural nest if they have a family now. Must be that their foster mother is a captive bird & they want the girls to be able to fledge naturally!

Yes, when they are given to a breeder, they try and put them in with one of their adult falcons that has chicks also.. At least that is what they do here.

Here is the post they have up
Last Wednesday (21/4/2010) a passer-by came across the female peregrine
falcon of the Sagrada Familia pair in the street. It was mortally wounded and
after being taken to the Torreferrussa wildlife centre it had to be put down.
We are not sure what happened to the bird. The three peregrine chicks have
lost their mother, and although the male could continue to feed them when they
are small, he would probably find it very difficult to raise them to fledglings and
may well even abandon them when they start to grow. As a result, it has been
decided to take two of the chicks, who are female, to a peregrine breeder,
so he can feed them until they can be hacked and released.

One chick, a male, has been left in the nest, which the father will probably
be able to feed and raise.
