Nice to see some Australian falcon chicks again. Aren't they the cutest little things? :hearts:

Thanks for posting the pictures.

UPDATE
Same old
Posted on 27-09-2010
Little to report up the tower at the moment.
The single egg is still looking good, and both parents are taking their shifts sitting.
Plenty of scraping gravel to form the nest itself. We’ve noticed a broken piece of
shell to the rear of the eyrie and can presume that’s from the second egg that was unfortunately crunched last week.

We’re still on track for a very early October hatching so we can but wait.
In the mean time the Orange weather pattern has vastly improved, with days
between 16-18degC, which will make it easier for impending chicks.
We’re currently putting together a movie presentation of our progress over
the last 4 years and are realising how much better the climate is at the moment.
Last year, for the 3 hatchlings, it was in the high 30degC’s and impossible to get comfortable up top.
There’s currently more action out on the ledge:

Thanks, Kitten! It would be nice to have an active cam by the time the chick is born, but if not, I'm sure they will post a recording of the hatch.

OMG! LOVE THE AUSIE FALCONS! HOW SWEET! WAS HOPING THERE WOULD BE A CAM BY NOW, BUT I GUESS NOT.

FOUND THE ARTICLE BELOW AND WAS WONDERING ABOUT THIS PAIR. THANKS SUSANE FOR POINTING ME IN HERE. I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO KEEP UP! I GUESS THAT TREE BRANCH WILL HAVE TO GO FOR NEXT YEAR! MAYBE ROBYN NEEDS THAT SPECIAL COATING ON HER WINDOW SO THEY DON'T SEE HER LOOKING AT THEM :-)

I loved the article...but had to chuckle when she said she expected the falcons to stay several more weeks...Has someone told her that if they like where they are, she can expect their return next year...and maybe they'll even hang around even after the kids are gone...she may not get too much use out of that area again...but, boy would I like to have that problem!!!

WOW! That is just fantastic. I love seeing them in a "natural" setting, even if it is a planter. c Does anyone know how high up that is?

Alcoa Anglesea Peregrine Falcon Webcam

Tuesday September 28, 2010
What’s in a name? Here at Alcoa Anglesea our Peregrine falcons have assumed
human identities with official names bestowed upon them all.
Our adult male ‘Havoc’ derives from the old English word hafoc for falcon (or hawk)
dating back to the middle ages of falconry. Our new adult female has been named
‘Ava’ chosen as a derivative of avis of latin origin meaning 'bird'.

Hi Jannice, many thanks for your interest in this project.
Our main focus at the moment is to obtain good quality cameras and recording systems
to improve our results,
but we will also be talking to Charles Sturt University
here once more with the specific purpose of creating some web pages to include
live camera video streams.
Currently we’re an entirely voluntary project.
With some luck, and with the help of this month’s fund-raising push in Orange,
this should happen sooner than later.
We’ll miss this breeding season but will be all set for next year.
Thanks again,
Scott
