yeah - I could best describe the state of my health as currently "balanced on the tightrope wire" which is better than "wobbling on ..." :wink:

Alcoa Anglesea Peregrine Falcon Webcam

Tuesday July 27, 2010

Welcome back! The 2010 Peregrine falcon breeding season at
Alcoa Anglesea is upon us.

The pink nest box is back! Due to continuing aggression from Sheila
towards our employees we have had to relocate the nest box (again!).
This time it is no longer on the water tower, rather in a stand-alone
location away from our main buildings. Both Sheila and Havoc
(bands yet to be confirmed) have been present around the station
for the last couple of weeks (looking for their nest box no doubt!)
so hopefully they will find their new home soon.

I thought the same thing, KF. Let's hope that Sheila and Havoc decide to raise their family in this brand new nest box. (I'm so glad they still have a pink nest box!)

It doesn't appear to be live - after checking the shadows fr this pic & their one online & yes it does appear to have a divider in it - weird!

Thanks for the heads-up! It's not live (yet). The new location looks great, let's hope the Falcons like it too. :smilesun:

I too was wondering about the box itself. Is that a separate "room" to the right ? If so I can't think of a reason why they would build it this way . . .
I do hope S&H will use it and that we get to see them and their family again. I also hope we get a more frequent refresh-rate once the eggs (if any) have hatched.
With a 1 minute refresh you miss so much of the action.

Gee, I hadn't even considered the concerns you have, Carly, & I agree that they are legitimate concerns. No water tower ledge for the juvies to run around & all.

I am happy to see that Alcoa is trying, though. Their employees' safety has to be their primary concern, but they came up with a solution to the problem so that they can hopefully continue to provide a nesting place for the falcons & also have a cam for us. Now just so Sheila decides to use the box. She should know that if its a pink box, its meant for her! :smilesun:

Let's keep our fingers crossed that S&H decide to nest at the new codo with the
