It's like she knows that he's been unfaithful. I don't know how this is going to turn out. One male cannot successfully provide for two nesting females can he? :(

First mating at Etobicoke Sunlife witnessed approximately a half hour ago - looks like Jack will have his talons full this Spring. Let the games begin!

Oh, my! Just hope we don't have 1 or 2 nest failures because he thinks he is "supertiercel"!

*sigh* The things you'll do to get the falcon scoop! I'm outside for a few to check and see if Angel is around when I spot Jack on the Cam...a few seconds later Angel flies from the nestbox to the condo tower. Meanwhile I'm walking down on the ground looking up, the glare of the sun bouncing off the glass building beams me in the eye and I make a mis-step and run smack into a fire hydrant - and it doesn't end there. I know I should stop moving but lose my balance and fall over the hydrant as my legs get all tangled up! So cut palms, bruised leg from hitting the hydrant...just to be able to report..more mating going on!

I swear I saw the falcons laughing at me...

Oh Carly, I can totally understand! Sorry you've injured yourself...

Read this morning that Jack is back at TR (see Mathew's site for update). Angel has been sitting by her nestbox calling for him all morning :( but he's so far he'd never hear her anyway. At one point she actually seemed like she was crying in distress...

On the plus side, migration will start here this weekend so still hoping a new male will come in for her as I don't see this working out at all.

Oh Carly, I feel so sorry for Angel! It would serve Jack right to get a whuppin' & get chased out of both territories!

Fingers crossed fro angel Carly. I really do not want to see a dispute (too many last year)but maybe a male needs to show up at the other territory. , who has been putting aphrodisiacs in the pigeon food there

Oh Carly! That's just what you need is to add Quest into the mix. How many nesting pairs are there in Toronto?

Wow, that's a large number for Toronto. Did you read that they have been having success with cliff sites in NY? I know they have falcons nesting every mile or so in the city. Bonnie knows a lot about NYC falcons, but I think they have been fairly successful. Virginia biologists have hacked hundreds of fledglings to the mountains for at least a decade, but they are only now getting a few nesting. It seems like nest sites have a lower success rate, but I don't really know. I do know that bridge nests do not have a good fledge success, and there are falcons on almost every bridge between here and NY.

I didn't want to say anything yesterday BUT Angel has been in the nestbox since yesterday morning except for once or twice when I've seen her beside it. Jack just came in and checked on her and I heard them chupping to each other. I won't know if there is an egg unfortunately but it's a good sign. She usually starts laying around this time so we will see how it goes...talons crossed.

Oh you have to let us know as soon as you know :loveshow:

carly, thanks for all this news about the nests in/around Toronto. Good to hear of the tiercels, but they need to stop fighting each other and go find all these beautiful single females!

This seems to be a problem. they keep fighting instead of mating with the single females.
but they are vying for the best nests.

I really am nervous for the start of my season.

It gets too much sometimes.
Hope all is well with angel Carly
