Hope these chicks will be sturdy. I don't know what's going on now, wing was removed and placed to the side. I think I'll take a break from watching. Well they are feeding and covering, so that's a good start. But you know I wondered all along how they would feed the chicks under those things.

A parent did remove the uneaten prey away from the chick now. It looks like 3 intact eggs left, so I'm thinking there is just 1 chick so far.

The only history I know about this pair is that they tried to nest here last year without a box & the nest failed.

I guess this ledge at the right is where nestovers are going to be stored, but unfortunately, mom has to drag the prey over the baby to get it there--makes me very nervous! She had a time dragging this prey, too, & it doesn't seem to be all that big.

Caught an early morning. Thought I saw 3. After the feeding, she kinda jumped over the chicks. Went better than before. Dad came in briefly, well I could see his shadow, but heard her fussing and his shadow disappeared quickly.

Watched another feeding this afternoon, couldn't be sure if 3 or 4. Just saw the last little bit, but she had the same problem trying to get to her little chicks and moving around with the prey.

I'm pretty sure this was an egg she tucked under her, so just 3 chicks. Not going to be able to stay up long enough to catch breakfast probably.

I just caught a VERY quick feeding lasted all of 45 seconds the one laying down
didn't get anything but it didn't seem to want any so maybe a feeding before I
opened it up whoever it was took the leftovers and RAN down towards the far
end TOO FUNNY the way they run and then holding on to the food on top of that
really looked like a duck waddling  then left with it, the other parent was off the
the left side and then covered them up

I just watched another feeding. I swear, she drug the prey right over them again.

Then she stashed it.

I can't see my pictures right now, used PB,

I watched for several minutes and she tried feeding from both sides a couple of times.

PB seems to be REALLY sluggish tonight...

This nest is really becoming messy!

Image

Uggggh, couldn't get my PB pic to load. Got a message (for the second time tonight) that said "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image".
